Hey, maybe you know if it's trodden in December? To Pokljuka, so 5th stage, is it usually trodden in the hills?

whitefox.. It will hardly be trodden. Paths lead through forest and past pastures. Usually in snow they don't take such paths. Also markers will be poorly visible. Look at the fifth stage in dry conditions and imagine half a meter of snow. And safe steps.nasmeh

Hmm, because it seems to me that people also hike in winter. But towards Pokljuka? That it won't work?

I don't know how much you've "trodden" it, that it only seems to you that people also hike in winter. Where, is another question.

On Tuesday, 9.7.24, I went from Goreljek to Stara Fužina (stage 6). In the summer season, organized bus transport around Bohinj, also to Pokljuka, ticket price 2 eur valid 24h, free for Bohinj residents (but need to get special ticket beforehand). Long stage, worth every step, easier than others approx equally long-because mostly descent. Map helps a lot at junctions where path not well marked. Water fountains sufficient.

Yesterday hikers (70+) walked stage 11 Most na Soči - Tolmin via village Modrejce and slopes of Bučenica. I think it's longer than 8.1 km. At the end of descent from Bučenica you're in dilemma between two tracks, left or right, no sign. We chose correct left and then for path to Tolmin along river several times used locals' advice. Otherwise problem only in high heat. But interests me, as I read, path also lowland on other side of lake. Are there two variants?

I went last year or year before on right side of lake. Don't know how accessibility now. Then bypass under construction near Tolmin... But remember before that path on right closed (bike works) and temporarily routed on left side from Most na Soči.

Now on JA website notice "Due to construction works and path closure, the route had to be rerouted to Tolmin on another path (for better view see route map)."

Stages 3 and 4, hiked Friday 19.7.2024 from Jesenice to Bled. Mostly flat, only ascent to Sv. Peter above Begunje. Pleasant walking discovery of this part of Gorenjska... More: https://hribovanja.blogspot.com/2024/07/juliana-trail-etapa-3-jesenice-begunje.html?m=1

Adding experience from stage 7 (St. Fužina-Boh. Bistrica). Short, easy stage, offers a different Bohinj vibe, non-touristy and unsaturated... https://hribovanja.blogspot.com/2024/08/juliana-trail-etapa-7-stara-fuzina.html?m=1

Hi.
Stage 2 of Juliana is great, but something is unclear to me... I went in reverse, from Jesenice to Mojstrana. I went along the old Rudna path and arrived at Prihodi on the main road. I walked along the main road until the big yellow Juliana Trail sign diverted me down from the main road left onto a side road, where I soon crossed a farm and then reached a very steep track towards Plavški rovt. Then all signs and markers disappeared. With Google's help I reached a gravel road. But I walked along it for about 4 km to join the correct gravel road that comes from Plavški rovt and goes towards Rogarjev rovt/Visok. I followed and trusted the signs, but as I read, I went too high on a track and came out much higher, so I did extra km..

A well-meaning comment regarding Google Maps. This app is not good for use in the mountains, because it has quite deficiently marked paths and inaccurate contours, which can get you into trouble.

OpenStreetMap-based apps are better. One free and very simple-to-use option is OrganicMaps (Mapy is better, but now has paid offline maps).

The best data on marked paths is from MaPZS, but it is a bit unreliable and awkward for use in the terrain.

Another option is using the Locus Map app and purchasing PZS maps.

Locus Map app + you can download the map OpenAndroMaps there, which works offline. Both can be used for free.
Additionally, I recommend installing the Elevate theme, which slightly improves the appearance of the map and its various elements.

Thanks for the info, I was just looking where to download OSM maps to try adding them to Locus Map.

Another well-meaning comment from me.
I looked at maPZS about a good week ago and it doesn't seem overly useful to me, since it's missing quite a few trails.
Buying PZS maps for Locus Map doesn't always seem sensible to me, because OSM maps are much more accurate. True, some trails are a bit poorly drawn, but they are still more accurate and in quite a few cases there are more of them than on PZS maps. Plus, OSM maps are often drawn based on lidar data, while PZS are obviously drawn a bit by eye.

On 8 October retirees from UD Britof-Predoslje walked part of the Juliana Trail from Trnovo to Kobarid. The trail somehow leads along the Soča River. We walked along it for almost four hours. Towards the end we even got a bit lost. Along the river some sections are almost impassable. The river has undercut parts of the trail - had to climb a bit. Really not for everyone. Our main guide had checked the trail beforehand and so we made a selection already at registrations. There were just over twenty of us - I was the assistant. Weather was nice - partly sunny. For dessert we went to see Kozjak waterfall - lots of visitors.
Of course, a coffee break is a must.1
