I personally hiked this route via Vrh Zvoha, where I also ran into fixed ropes that just spice up the path. Otherwise, a nice and interesting route that always enchants you with the view of Grintavec and other peaks.
It's worth it, best to go early in the morning.

If you go from Kokrško sedlo you have on the way a couple of pegs and a wire but it's not demanding, really fun velik nasmeh

How is the path from Krvavec through Dolga Njiva? How much time for an average hiker?

The variant from Vrh Zvoha - Vrh Korena (over Ježa) is also interesting, a bit down to Škrbina (here the path over Dolgo njivo joins and also splits into 2 variants: over Kalce or Greben). Fans of secured climbing paths clearly choose Greben, from where the path leads us over exceptional ridge terrain up and down to a cca. 20-meter, quite steep wall, which we climb with the help of 2 cables and pegs (they also recommend using a helmet and via ferrata set). Caution is not superfluous. The path then brings us to Kal Peak straight from the junction, where 2 paths join: left down to Cojzova hut at Kokrsko sedlo, right down the aforementioned variant over Kalce. From the junction cca. 10 min. Then back, e.g., down to Cojzova. Route Vrh Zvoha - Cojzova hut cca. 5-6 hours, depending on admiring the views (recommend as much as possible)! The path especially from the top of Kalški greben onwards is not overly visited, and let it stay that way.mežikanje

Very nice access along the hunting path from Žagana peč. But one needs to know the passage above over Kalce, although it is also possible pathless (wide gully) to scree below the ridge and right along it and up through the grass to the summit. In the gully below the hunting hut at one spot very demanding (steep, slip risk due to loose leaves), otherwise not hard.
Only for those experienced in such terrain!

This weekend I descended from Kal Peak to Kokrsko sedlo. The path is currently completely unsecured, as all cables are torn.

The mentioned path is no longer maintained at all, that's why all the cables are torn because no one repairs them.velik nasmeh

I went on this path on 26.7.1992 from Kokrško sedlo to Kal Peak; already then it was poorly maintained. Pegs were pulled out, cables torn and rusted. Anyway, one has to choose a longer approach to this mountain. GOOD LUCK ON THE PATH.

Yeah, the recession shows, no more money even for WD-40 to spray the cables a bit velik nasmehvelik nasmehvelik nasmeh

Really a pity that they don't renovate this path and secure it again.

Rant: I was on Kal Peak last year. The path is quite crumbly, but I think the narrow ledge-traverse just below the ridge on the south side is the most dangerous. If I'm not mistaken it's still covered with snow on the last picture. Am I wrong?

The path whose section is visible on the penultimate picture has long been abandoned. No marking leads you down there anymore. The real path branches off from Kal Peak towards the saddle a bit further, at a smaller saddle where there's also a path junction. Straight leads towards Kalški ridge, left to Kalce and right down to Kokrsko saddle. Last autumn the fixed protections on this path were still impeccable.

No I meant the path section from K.mountain to the saddle, which runs horizontally under the ridge and is a narrow track on grassy slope. For me it was quite nasty in the wet.

I agree with janez3, last year I hiked the route Žagan peč, Kalška gora, Kokrsko sedlo and had no remarks on the fixed protections, or do you mean some other descent?

There is an old climbing path from Zois hut to the top, on which there's still some old ironware - due to friability this path has been abandoned for at least 20 years. The path start is hard to find today - even the colleague who was cook at Zois hut for a year and visited surrounding hills many times doesn't know the path start.
I'm mainly interested in current conditions from Žagan peč direction (past hunting hut and Zob) to Kalška gora summit - is there deep sinking snow somewhere, or already spring-like?
Thanks for answer

Today with my younger son, who's becoming a high schooler, as part of preparations (mileage building) for the upcoming youth mountaineering camp that he's been attending for years, we climbed Kal Mountain.

From Žagana peč along the hunting path over Kalce "new, nice" XXL markings appeared. Orange dots and circles up to 30 cm diameter.

Some snow patches still on south side too, which can be avoided. Descent to Kokrško sedlo is steep but extremely crumbly (helmet!). Below wall two snow patches, bypass them on lower side which slightly lengthens path over scree. Used ice axes, crampons stayed in backpack.
