Klek (1753)

Print
heinz21. 05. 2009 15:59:35
Today I was on Klek - from Martinčev Rovt via Jeseniška Planina (Koča na Petelinu), - Rožca saddle, Klek from the west, then back on the eastern side where it goes towards Golica, - then right onto the transversal, then left again down towards J.planina or the starting point.
Just to say, on Klek right now the blue gentian (some call it encijan) is blooming abundantly, and the narcissus there haven't fully bloomed yet, and....
Yes, you can already meet some resident who likes to sunbathe (the one I met within arm's reach didn't look too starved, but the poor thing got so scared that sadly no time for a photo)
Well, long pants or slightly higher socks probably come in handy just because of their fear. I myself flinched a bit.
Otherwise; it's especially worth going to Klek right now. LP Heinz!

This is how it was yesterday 11.10. on Klek. At the top due to wind already quite low temps. Recommend hat and gloves.
Good luck, heinz!

Today it was quite pleasant, especially when the sun shone (still quite warm).
Met a large group of chamois, no hikers, picked some mushrooms.
View towards the Julian Alps reveals no snow in the high mountains. Probably just lightly snowed only below the top of Očak, which was otherwise wrapped in fog.

This morning it looked bad, sky mostly overcast, but I went anyway to check and hoped the clouds would clear enough for some views. At the top I froze for a while waiting for the view, fog line was right at Klek's height.
In the morning Rožca was still almost all white, on the way back more grass than snow, water running on paths, at Mokotova hut already pleasantly warm. On Klek about 10cm snow, just right to slide down to Rožca.
Except two loggers down at the pasture, no one anywhere, obviously people don't dare go up when it's not clear. velik nasmeh

Hi,
buddy lost his car keys today at Mokotova hut or on top of Klek. Backpack was opened there and they fell out. They're on an Alfa Romeo fob together with another regular key. If anyone finds them by chance, please call 041 286 634.
Many thanks.

And some pics from today:

Today from pasture below Golica, across Jesenik pasture towards Rožca, then right to Klek. Warm in the sun, just below Klek ridge wind started blowing like crazy, so we went lower. Return towards hut on Golica, then leave marked path and on well visible path past Golica shepherd hut hit forest road and back to valley that way. Under that hut unfortunately no hunter's path to shorten return, but knees suffered less. All in all nice loop...

Mid-morning I drive to Rogarjev Rovt. What peace reigned up there. Slowly walking across vast high-alpine meadow. No rush anywhere since from Rogarjev Rovt to Klek where I'm headed is just an hour and a half walk. When I get right below Hruška Pasture where the pasture fence starts I just stop. Couldn't believe it, a wild capercaillie strutting along the path. Hands shaking, quick camera I gotta photo him I think. Take a few shots and try to step off the path uphill so he can continue on path. But since I sink into snow I can't move fast uphill. Then I notice him stepping quickly towards me and suddenly he's right above me. I turn quickly and jump from snow back to path and hurry a few meters towards Hruška Pasturenasmeh The capercaillie keeps strutting on the snow. Now he had the path free but wasn't too interested, kept looking at me. I stood good 15m aside. He comes back to path. I watch and observe him, he was so beautiful. Never thought I'd observe a wild capercaillie so close up. Everything fine as long as I stood still. When I bent to pick up trekking poles to go on, he charges at me again. Yeah don't squat near a capercaillie, he'll peck you quickvelik nasmeh And off we go again. Well soon he gives up and we go our ways. Me to Klek, him to find his hen.
Quickly at Mokotova hut on Rožca. Continue to ridge and up easy path to Klek. From Klek top nice view to Hruški Vrh which had quite some visitors. I decide to go there too since plenty time. From Hruški Vrh back to Mokotova hut and treat myself to long rest with snack. When sitting in front of hut sun shone for a bit. Couple fat raindrops catch me when already down on Rogarjev Rovt meadows. Today was a day hard to be nicernasmeh Good luck.

Today I went again on skis to Klek. For the starting point I chose Plavški Rovt. By car it went to Zakamnik and a few meters further, then on skis along the road all the way to Jeseniška Planina. In the lower part on sunny slopes you need to take off skis several times, as the snow persistently grabs. From the planina onwards there's some new snow, on top about fifteen centimeters. The snow is south-facing on hard base and was quite good for skiing. On the return it cleared up and the rest on Jeseniška Planina was pure enjoyment. Skiing to the car already on completely rotten snow.

I went yesterday from Planina pod Golico. For walkers with snowshoes no problems, without them it really sinks in very deeply in places. More

Today nice and warm morning hike from Rogarjev Rovt towards Hruščanska Planina, where on the flat, where the view opens towards Golica and Stol ridge, the path is crossed by the "notorious" capercaillie. He puffed up a lot and followed us along the road almost to Hruščanska Planina. We continued towards Rožca and Klek and on the return he was waiting almost at the same spot and "intimidated" two more hikers. He stood in the middle of the road, didn't let us pass until we fended him off with poles.
Path otherwise without peculiarities, snow only on the border ridge and top of Klek and on short sections of the path through the forest above Jeseniška Planina towards Rožca. Some trees still down across the path, but can be bypassed.

Correction, the capercaillie is an autochthonous protected species of wild rooster.

Gita, wonderful pictures. We also heard the capercaillie more than saw it, and it was sadly among the bushes so we couldn't photograph it. And how many crocuses there are still in this area. I hope the inscription touches someone's heart, because we often see plucked wilted flowers on the path. The capercaillie is unique, very beautiful, a real poser.nasmehmežikanje.
Lots of beautiful shots from now on.nasmeh

When narcissi bloom on the slopes under Golica,
their scent awakens memory of grandma's potica.
Nice to be among them, like among beautiful memories....nasmeh
