It was wonderful, today's morning sky over KSA... from Kriška planina to Kompetela and back on a slightly slippery path due to rain and cow dung. velik nasmeh

Yesterday not on this path, snow starts at the ascent to Kompotela above planina Koren. Super day!

Today in clear weather to Kompotela via planina Koren. Starting point Jezerca. Lots of visitors. Cold, frozen, sunny, some mud even in sunny spots. Microspikes came in handy. Then the ridge.. gusts of wind, almost hurricane force, which deterred us and many others from the set goal. Next time..., not much was missing. Kompotela and vrh Korena will wait. Still a nice day with wonderful views.

Kompotela bathed in sun and strong wind today. Views wonderful. Snow hard as concrete and icy in some sections - crampons. Nice mountaineering regards.

Today we visited Kompotela. Parked at paid parking, then via Kriška planina to planina Koren. Sat a bit on the bench enjoying pleasant sun, then on to Kompotela summit. On the way to planina Koren hit dry and bare sections, also muddy and fully icy. But main part of path on nicely trodden snow to top. Weather not wintery, sunny, warm no wind, visibility very good. Met couple hikers, on Kompotela only one, others visited vrh Korena.

Has anyone been to Kompotela recently? Is it a popular peak or more solitary? Are bears present in this area?nasmeh

All peaks above planina Koren regularly get visits, you always meet someone, there are never crowds, at least I haven't experienced it. As for the bear - on Menina planina there are (at least) 2 regular residents. Occasionally the bear crosses to Velika planina and it has already been in the Bistricica valley too. So it is not impossible that it moves to the Krvavec group. But I haven't heard anyone report that it regularly stays there.

Yes, they are present. I know, because I saw tracks in the snow when I went over Jež. Not this year, but a couple of years ago, so it definitely strolls this part too. Probably it is more transient here and the chance of meeting it is really micro-minimal mežikanje.
