16.11. was a wonderful day for the mountains, although Kompotela was not the chosen goal (because we missed the pathless route to Mokrica), we were overjoyed to have wandered elsewhere, hope I manage to upload some pics, don't know why I sometimes get server issues. Cheers! And many more beautiful days for mountain hikes.

I can't upload pictures, probably because of moving to a new server, as it shows Server error/mistake, maybe someone knows how to help me with some advice, as I admit I'm really not a computer whiz. LP! And thanks for help.

The server has been quite overloaded lately, so some things work quite slowly. But we'll fix that in the next few days too. For uploading pictures it would help if you resize them beforehand before uploading to the server HERE is such a program with which you can easily resize pictures. After installing the program, then right-click on the selected pictures and choose "resize" and mark the desired size. Pictures uploaded to Hribi.net are mostly 800x600 size.

I tried to install the suggested program, but I got a message that it's not compatible with Windows Vista (as I see, it's made for XP). Rok, maybe you know of another similar one that would work on Vista?

You can try by virtually sending the pictures by e-mail and the machine asks if it should resize them. Confirm and then drag them to the desktop, and simply close the mail.

Jprim, I'm curious from which side you ended up on Kompotela. Do you know the conditions from Zvoh over Jež to the top of Korena? Any ice?

Well, it was quite interesting, we took a wrong turn around 1600 or less, where there's a well visible trodden path past Medvedje jame, my husband and I went straight ahead, then we reached planina Koren, went right, which was another mistake as we already had quite some scree and rocks, reached planina Košutna and then in the direction...? there was snow of course, we followed tracks... and so got to the unmarked summit, we started from Kamniška Bistrica, or just before the cable car, left turn. Jež was passable as we saw hikers crossing it, we did this area last year all the way to Kalški greben. What it will be like tomorrow, I don't know, I regularly check vreme.net. Best regards.

So I find Kompotela and realize, yeah 2008 on this summit. And today's ascent was winter-colored too. This time over Kriško planina - planina Koren - planina Košutna - Kompotela - then hunter or shepherd path to Krvavec (I assume so), must say this path is quite interesting, nicely brings you to the upper ridge of Krvavca. On the way you meet winter and spring. Anyway nice. Cheers!

Today on May 1st I already went from Škerjančevo in Stiška vas, over Abrož, above Abrož on the left path to planina Jezerce, then to Kriška planina, then to planina Koren and on to Kompotela. Soon above planina Koren winter conditions started. Lots of snow, south-facing, sinking to the knees in places. I had four hikers ahead who joined me at the hunting hut from the Kamniška Bistrica direction. We nicely progressed in a column. On the return I experienced an avalanche on Kriška planina, a real thunderstorm on Abrož. The ascent took a total of four and a half hours. Too bad I can't upload pics from Kriška planina, there was a transfer issue and they got deleted.

Velkavrh, how much snow approx on the path to Kompotela. Crampons needed?... winter gear? Cheers!

As I wrote I was there yesterday. For Kompotela no need for crampons if snow is south-facing like yesterday. Me and four other hikers didn't need them. But crampons should be standard winter gear anyway, you never know where it might be frozen. On our hike no track, so only go if you know the path well, as signs mostly not visible. Otherwise easy path, safe, but watch edge at summit, cliffs. Wish pleasant hike! Snow will stay for some days.

Hey otiv, this is my stomping ground, which I hiked this year entirely from Kalška gora to Mokrica and planina Osredek, lengthwise and crosswise. Alpine flowers aplenty in the pastures and towards peaks too, from rockroses to poppies and marmots. Looks like you had nice weather. Sadly I'm now limited to weekends only, if weather permits. Cheers.

Well they say electronics is super, but when something glitches it's a real pain.... that's why I'm a bit late posting on the forum. Thanks to both for greetings, which we return wishing you many more such days, same to you.

You are spot on grinhorn, bliss for gods. First time there I couldn't believe it, especially with weather like yesterday. Almost no visitors then too. No one on Kompotela though we stayed two hours, two on Koren top. 100% enjoyment ruined by two jet flyovers, otherwise peace, quiet, in short.....Wonderful pics. Nice regards and many more such hikes ahead.
