Jošt, just on Saturday planning to Konj, so your info and (especially) pics helped a lot! But I'm interested in more info about the fallen trees. Is it only between pasture Dol and pasture Rzenik? Is it necessary to go into the dwarf pines, or did you just stray there by accident? On the way down did you figure out that dwarf pines can be avoided? Regards

Jošt's reply, for which I thank him most nicely: Hi, the fallen trees bothered me only between pasture Dol and pasture Rzenik. Into the dwarf pines I strayed by accident, because a bit before pasture Rzenik there's a fallen tree across the path (I saw it on the way back) and in such a way that it completely covers the path. Since I didn't know the path, I went left here on some quasi trail that later disappeared, soon problems started. So stick mainly to the right and it'll be fine. But that tree is a bit above the rock where there's a large marking with red arrow – you can't miss it, unless you got lost before hehe. Apart from that spot no major issues elsewhere. Good luck!

Does anyone know how much snow there is from Planina Dol towards Konj. This weekend I'd head up - hope the snow has already melted (running)? lp Dejan

I assume nothing, because there's none on Velika Planina either.

No snow. Neither from this side nor from the other (Presedljaj).

No more snow, since higher up not until 2000. Yesterday I did one good training run to Konj. Super path, a bit of mud at the start - then excellent.

On the 13th picture there is no view towards L. Dedec but towards V. Zelenica, V. Vrh, Tolsti vrh, Deska, Vodotočnik, Lastovec,...

Yes, wrong picture was uploaded, so the comment was appropriate. On picture 13: view towards Ojstrica. All you listed is sadly not visible on this picture. Thanks for the remark, otherwise wouldn't have noticed. Safe and agile step JTrogar

Today I was obviously the first to wade through this snow right to the top. A couple went only to the hut on Planina Rzenik. Went without ice axe and crampons, but cornices and quite thick snow blanket sinking in places to the waist. It took lots of strength. But still, top beautiful, great view on other peaks in KSA, recharged batteries, downhill no problems, could plunge through deep snow. Fantastic, winter is here!

08.12.2013 ascent to Konj, start from lower cable car station to Velika Planina via Planina Dol. Weather quite nice, path not demanding, recommend at least small crampons on descent from Planina Dol (quite some ice under leaves). Snow quite a bit towards top, but luckily didn't sink too much. Views wonderful. Konj is Konj after all..

If once Tue-Fri (depending how long weather OK) doesn't take me elsewhere to one of desired ~1,600m peaks, I'd almost rather go first time ever on this trail: Kraljev hrib - Pl.Dol - Konj for trail Pl.Dol-Konj http://www.hribi.net/izlet/planina_dol_konj_/3/289/409 OK to go say already on Wednesday? what awaits on path, any notable annoyances? mandatory at least mini Veriga mount track crampons (and ice axe)? stamp I assume on summit itself?

In gully on pic 15 http://www.hribi.net/izlet/kraljev_hrib_planina_dol_/3/1261/1759 usually plenty of leaves and ice. Here be careful especially on descent, but no excessive fear. Elsewhere no specials: track is there, Konj not lacking visits, snow rather little, crampons recommended, poles too, logbook box is there, stamp dunno. Annoyances people usually bring on themselves.

For this trail maybe nothing needed, ice axe unnecessary, though it costs nothing if you have it . Recommended poles and good mood. Stamp not on top but have to descend a bit from top. Probably under snow. Cheers D.

Stamp now on top, access from Planina Dol no longer demanding. In Dolski Graben though crampons and ice axe definitely recommended, slip there has been fatal already.

3.1. didn't need neither crampons nor ice axe... above Planina Rzenik (over scree) was sinking quite a bit, now track anyway, unless really lots of snow fell Sunday... Dolski graben (was slippery - wet leaves) and path between Planini Dol and Rzenik (little snow on rocks) of course a bit slippery... cheers

Kraljev hrib (540 m) - Planina Dol (1308 m) - Planina Rzenik (1654m) - Konj (1803 m) - Planina Konjščica (1505m) - Gradišče (Velika planina) (1666 m) - back again to Planina Dol and to Kraljev hrib Approx. 1,600 m elevation gain. Had crampons, ice axe, gaiters with me. All stayed in/on the backpack, didn't need them. If changed order of peaks, probably messed up. To Velika Planina and from it would be more frozen, from Konj sinking under snow. But larger winter snowshoes came in handy. Trail for me fully unproblematic. Practically no mud, snow not sinking. View to 2000ers especially from Konj, clearly dreamy.
