Kresišče, Mojstrovica, Visoki (kurji) vrh

Print
heinz7. 09. 2009 21:56:57
Today there were no bulls on the pasture, so Reksi and I managed to reach Kurji vrh, Mojstrovica and finally Kresišče. Due to the destroyed road in the lower part (before the barrier) this part of the world - up there - was completely cut off today, so no living soul was met (except one English-speaking person).
On the pastures under Kresišče a fairy-tale peace reigns, the beauties of nature cannot be described vividly enough. It's really worth going there, especially because of the true idyll and tranquility. Worth checking out!

I park before the barrier and head up the road. The road is not too steep, it winds and no end is in sight. On the way I come to a trough where a spring flows, around the willow bush full of birds that can hardly take turns bathing. Well, I finally reach the end of the road. Short ascent and I'm on a wide grassy ridge, at the edges grow mighty larches. I walk almost flat between the larch avenue to a large mountain meadow under Mojstrovica peak. From the top nice view of the Julians. During rest a butterfly lands on my hand and warms in the sun for a while. When it flies off it lands very close, I quickly grab the camera before I press it is gone. It walked well on Mojstrovica before I managed to photograph it. All around peace and quiet only the cuckoo calls in the forest a bit below the top. I'll come back here in autumn when the larches are golden. Nice greetings

Ajda, your description of the trip to Mojstrovica stuck in my memory and today we visited this friendly peak. Larches are yellow, really glowing but not yet - a bit more...nasmeh

Hello, Ljubica, yes I really liked it on Mojstrovica, as I see you enjoyed it too. Larches are already coloring, will have to go up again. Nice greetings, Ajda

Yesterday I went to Kresišče from the Austrian side. Started at Hotel Baumgartnerhof and in the lower part first via ferrata along the stream Ročica/Rotschitzabach. Continued on the usual easy path past hut Mitzl Moitzl Hütte to the border ridge and then to Kresišče.
On return I stopped at the climbing area Kanzianiberg/Škocjanska gora, where besides numerous climbing routes there are quite a few ferratas.

I'll just write under this topic, although we only climbed to Kresišče (I saw that @Rok did the same, he will know, right? mežikanje).

Wishes were greater, but that's how it is these days, if you start later, your daylight hours are counted. No panic though, we wanted a nice autumn photo trip, plus with nice views, and Kresišče was a bullseye – from Srednji vrh via Grajšco and back.

The amount of snow surprised us. It starts a bit before crossing Hladnik stream, up to 15 cm deep, around noon and a bit after it was still firm or just slightly softened and pleasant for walking, in the afternoon on the way back already quite mushy. Since there's no base, it broke through to the grass and was slippery in places.

Well, that's about the conditions. But what mattered today were the golden larches and divine view. If it had blown a little less on the top, we would probably have returned with helmets to the valley mežikanje… but we finished just as the sun went down behind Jalovec and cool shadow embraced the beautiful village of Srednji vrh….
Above the village Srednji vrh larches glow in the most beautiful colors...1

Yesterday I was on skis again after a long time. The past ten days Mih and I were chasing a cold at home and I really needed some movement.

With Jernej we chose Mojstrovica as part of mountain guide training. There's just enough snow on the road to do most of the path on skis - except 5 minutes walk before the tunnel. Still, too much to drive higher with the car from the main road.

So nothing left but walking the 7 km long road to Planina Mikulovica. From there into the forest searching passages between trees to the top of Mojstrovica. The last 400 vertical meters you could sense the sun, which however didn't show up despite quite a long time spent on top.

Skiing was mostly on good rideable slush and if you hit the right passages you get about 700 vertical meters. For the end, pushing on the road and ski down to the car.

These are really wild and quite unvisited ends of our mountains. In my opinion unjustly neglected, as they offer super views and wild environment.

No pics this time, because my camera charging cable hid.

....Kresišče....From initial 2cm snow, soon behind the hunting hut, up to 20cm or more towards the top. Snow wet and slippery. Views only momentarily. Forest path from Sr. vrh officially closed as always, but drivable. Last two ditches quite deep, not for every car.
Up there they're working overtime this year, June 1st and so much snow on our hills...velik nasmehmežikanje

On Sunday, 16.6., with friend Juri we went this time to a piece of the trail that remained from the previous weekend when we crossed the Z part of Karavanke from Korensko sedlo to Srednji vrh...
Since a slightly cooler Sunday was promisednasmeh, we decided it would be the right day to explore this part of Karavanke, which doesn't see much visit around here-except Kresišče.
Early morning start told us it would be a wonderful daynasmeh, not too hot...and it could offer some refreshing rain dropsvelik nasmeh. Morning coffee clears the head and of course thoughts, gives new strength and momentum.
The valley of Belca stream draws us into its embrace around 5:30. The canyon below us and rocky walls above form a wonderful harmonynasmehmežikanje....and are a real paradise for seeking photo motifs....Conversation for a while goes towards what the road was originally intended for and when it was actually builtzmeden. We didn't reach a conclusion, meaning we have some interesting literature to readmežikanje. Start point-some 10m above the barrier, we leave around 6am. It was so fresh and calmnasmeh, that our legs obeyed nicely and led us over pastures and gullies, across saddles to peaksnasmeh. The forest path leading towards Jepca and Kepa and later branching off in another direction brings us after about 15 minutes to Planina Na planji. Here there's no sign of any pasture or sheds...but later we notice some calves, making us think there's grazing around here. The hunting path then turns right uphillvelik nasmeh....slowly for a while, steeply in some parts...We cross Belca stream several times, which has multiple arms and gullies offering diverse flowers...After about an hour and a half we're at the saddle, which we'll return to later...but from a completely different direction. The forest we're walking through is mostly coniferousmežikanje, dominated by blooming larch. My thoughts already drift to autumn, when it can be fairy-tale like around herenasmeh....Slowly we rise among blooming gentians to the next saddle...below Laskovec. The saddle is quite panoramic, offering views of Murnovec, Bele peči, Trupejevo and Maloško poldne and Ojstra peč. Below us lies Planina Za lepim vrhom, especially beautiful at 8amnasmeh....No one around, so we enjoy the wonderful day....and observing naturenasmeh. If we have lots of time, we can go to Kresišče right on the visible hunting trail that runs along the ridge in the upper part. We chose the shorter path this time, which goes under Kresišče and brings us back to a new saddle and to the top. Unfortunately, the fog rising from Carinthia crossed our plans for super viewseekvelik nasmeh. So there was some bad mood present. We're first, but soon other hikers follow, and even four-legged friend. The aforementioned ridge path from Črni vrh to Kresišče is supposedly in super condition, so those tempted, go for itmežikanje. The blooming ridge of Kresišče is enchanting. It offers quite a few diverse flowers in full bloomnasmeh. Since the mists persisted for quite a while and showed no sign of clearing, we decided to descendcool. At the saddle we part....I headed towards Murnovec. At Planina Grajšca I went straight up the slope and along the ridge to the top, which is grassy and spacious. And offers views of Martuljek groupnasmeh, lower peaks above Martuljek and surrounding peaks with Trupejevo and Maloško poldne in front. Since I didn't want to descend the same way, I chose another direction. Which was friendlier and suitable...and where the real approach runsvelik nasmehjezik. From Planina Za lepim vrhom there's an excellently trodden and always traceable trail to Murnovec, quite steep though. So the path brings me after 30 min descent to my companions Bačot and Juri. On the pasture we enjoy the sun rays for another hour and a halfcool, then continue under Laskovec to the saddle between Tišlerica and Mojstrovica, where a hunter serves us some interesting infonasmeh. We cut up the slope to the first peak-Gromovec, then via Planina Ravne to Mojstrovica, 1816m high grassy peak offering wonderful views to Kepa and its surrounding peaks from Klek onwards, and to the other side towards Martuljek groupnasmeh...Here you wish time would stop....and staymežikanje....Peace, tranquility, unvisited location, wonderful nature....what more could you wantnasmeh....In such wonderful company as I had, nothing morenasmeh. So only Visoki Kurji vrh remained, about 45min walk. Below Mojstrovica peak the path continues, showing in next steps that actually Mojstrovica geologically belongs to the Old Karavanke. The path among pines brings us to our last point, Visoki vrh. The heat, how grateful I am, hit only so late. On top we deserve a long break, and I, at Bačot's wish, collect pine conesmežikanjevelik nasmeh...they smell really nicemežikanje.....Descent through dense bushes is quite strenuous....and unpleasanteek. The hunting path bringing us below Planina Mikulovica first runs along the ridge, then below Visoki Kurji vrh to the road leading to our start. For the icing on the cake, a running chamois surprises us at the endnasmehjezik.

It was another wonderful Sunday that revealed some new ends of Karavanke to us. Unfortunately Kresišče was quite visited this time, so animals persistently hid from us. To see many more, I'll of course return....in autumn, when everything is dressed in golden yellow.

On Sunday from village Srednji vrh to Kresišče, continuation right towards Mojstrovica and due to late hour descent from meadow under Tišlerica back towards hunting hut Hladnik or start.
In village a passing local tells me that after about 1km road to hut not drivable due to broken edge, which I also learn from hunters sitting in front of homestead and I set off on foot from village.
After 2km road still nice, then offroader with hunters overtakes me, feeling they are grinning at me.
At ca. 3.5km road really damaged, but already partially repaired, drivable with car no problem.
At hut I meet them, offroader parked, having snack, didn't want to comment they seem to have road private. Anyway, it's hunting.
Walking the road from village to hut is quite varied due to many streams and gullies, only back drags (ca 5 km).
Because of that I shortened the trip, thought to go to Mojstrovica too.

Today I wanted to visit Kresišče and Mojstrovica, but due to difficult conditions I only managed Kresišče. From Srednji vrh to hunting hut no problems, little snow. With height snow depth grows too. Ahead of me only traces of one touring skier visible. From Planina Grajšca on I chose a bit my own way, because predecessor went straight up over bushes, but too little snow for that passage and it sinks to a... .I turned a bit left but still sank over knees. After almost three hours I crawled to the top. Immediately saw that in these conditions Mojstrovica too far for me, so returned same way.

Today with Škofja Loka mountaineers first to the beautiful ferrata along the very watery waterfalls of Ročica stream and then to Kresišče. We descended to the Slovenian side.
Start in Austria.1
Inn and pension Baumgartner.2
Invitation to the via ferrata.3
Here we go.4
Beginning of the magnificent via ferrata along the waterfalls of the Ročica stream (Rotschitza)5
This is how the climbing pleasure begins. It is the slope of Črni vrh (Schwarzkogel), where the Ročica stream has carved a gorge with wonderful larger and smaller waterfalls.6
We are waiting in line for the via ferrata. The via ferrata is rated B-C (up to possible F/G). Mostly we move A-B and B.7
The water roars past us like this. The climbing section is 150 m long.8
Crossing above the waterfall on the steel cable - adrenaline-packed - no mistakes allowed.9
The waterfalls just don't end.10
Crossing with the help of a fixed cable directly over the water.11
Climbing high above the stream bed.12
At the Mitzl-Moizl-Hütte (1639 m). It is privately owned and rarely open. This is the Panierescharte saddle whose highest point is 1725 m.13
Summit above the hut - Ojstra peč (Nordgipfel-Mittagskogel-18001m). There is a three-meter cross and a summit register. Austrians mark it as Maloško poldne (Mallestiger Mittagskogel).14
Wonderful view of Austrian lakes. This is Baško jezero (Faakersee).15
Lake in the distance.16
There is a crowd at the summit of Kresišče. Kresišče (Schwarzkogel) 1839 m is the last important peak in the Trupejevo poldne group.17
Here is the border, the cross is on the Austrian side.18
We return on the Slovenian side across this green pasture. This is Planina Grajščica.19
Puddle on the pasture.20
Hunting hut behind Lepi vrh - 1278 m.21
At the parking lot in the village Srednji Vrh above Gozd-Martuljek.22

@Velkavrh ... thanks for the idea nasmeh Waterfalls are really watery now and clambering in such atmosphere is the best this ferrata can offer jezik. Roaring of waterfalls was so powerful today it was hard to communicate at times. Ferrata difficulty is low, but harness and helmet mandatory. Everything on ferrata wet from spray, brackets to rocks where path goes and without aids ferrata turns to canyoning of huge dimensions on slip. Wisely then mežikanje

Yesterday to Kresišče. Snow starts few hundred meters before crossing Hladnik stream and about 10 cm also on slope to Grajšica pasture. Completely different already at start of pasture; half meter and more sinks to knees and over. No one crossed pasture before me, I had doubts too. Thanks to persistence immensely enjoyed sun on Kresišče top nasmeh, less so trailbreaking mežikanje. All rewarded hundredfold ...

Edina - as soon as I see your short report and blog link I know what's coming - detailed description in nice language and good pics. Always even nicer than expected. I can say you're one of the most positive on the forum. Many do bolder paths (enjoy reports from various traverses), sometimes tangle in persuasions and dish out advice - you never. And at the end "Happy trails"!
