Today 12.2. to Kresišče, then over Črni vrh to Sedlič, descent to Belca. To hunting hut the path is nice, recommend small crampons, further snowshoes very useful.

Autumn is coming and larches are slowly changing color. In a sunny morning I start from Srednji vrh along the valley behind Lepi vrh. In less than an hour I'm at the hut and the most tiring part of the path is behind me. On the pasture I turn left towards the sun and Murnovec. But a cold wind was blowing quite strongly, so I had to dress warmly. At the top a wonderful view awaits me, undoubtedly the best that day. I descend straight down towards the border, and quickly reach Malaška poldne. Then down and up to Kresišče. After a longer break I descend straight down through grasses and scree to the saddle above planina Grajšca. A clearly visible path leads me a bit up and down to the next saddle, where the road from dolina Belca ends. Here I made my first mistake, instead of the ridge I turned onto the right path that goes almost horizontally under Mojstrovica. When it started descending I turned straight up and climbed steeply to Mojstrovica. From there further to Kurji vrh. Since I didn't want to go back and through meadows to the valley, I descended towards Vretov vrh. All the time I was looking for the path branch to the right, but I obviously missed it or it's already overgrown. After a longer descent along the ridge I had already reconciled that the path would end at Štengah, and then descent to the valley and along asphalt to Gozd Martuljek and ascent back along the road to the starting point. But a clearly visible path appeared to me like a miracle, leading to the right. The almost flat path led me through numerous turns, past a wonderful stream and straight to Srednji vrh. Quite a strenuous day but mainly because of my mistakes.

Yesterday we hiked the Karavanke ridge from Korensko sedlo to Jepca saddle below Kepa. We walked the Carinthian border path. Descended to the Austrian side, to Bukovnik-Baumgartner hof. Car was waiting there. The ridge is very hilly and full of wonderful views. We bagged 14 peaks and 2000m ascent. This part of Karavanke is the most beautiful to me.

Today 18.5. through Belca valley first to Mojstrovica, then along the ridge to Kresišče. Below Kresišče (marmots already doing spring cleaning), then to Maloški Poldnev, at the saddle to Trupejev Poldnev. From there descent to Srednji vrh. Sunny sides spring and flowers, shady areas still lots of snow. Some clouds, some sun, just right amount of everything.

Blaz, if you went up through Belca, did you then walk from Srednji vrh along the road, are there other options (well, except someone picking you up)?

ločanka, I only know the path from Srednji vrh along the road to the bench quite low down (it's at the bend shaped like a pipe). About 50m lower, where the protective fence by the road ends, a trail branches right to the main road about 50m above the bus stop. It's about 15 min closer.

Ločanka. There is a path, but hard to hit from Srednji vrh due to multiple tracks. So I recommend opposite direction as 77blaz went. It goes from village past Vavčar, crosses Strmi graben, to Belca valley at top of hill at Štengah. I took it descending from Kurji vrh and past Vretov vrh to Belca valley, car at Srednji vrh. When I got quite low (about 10 min to Šteng) I hit the path, which is sometimes overgrown and momentarily poorly visible. But it pulls to the village.

Today from Srednji vrh through valley behind Lepi vrh past hunting hut towards Murnovac. A bit before junction to Grajšca turn left into small gully. Human traces soon gone, replaced by game trails. Well, a bit higher hit transverse path not on my map. Since it led too far left, leave it and go straight up, puffing to top of Murnovac. From hut to top in under half hour, but really steep. Sun hiding behind clouds, soon descend towards Grajšca then below Tišlerica to Mojstrovica. Here sun shining through clouds got quite hot (one shirt enough). After long break head to Visoki vrh, then back along ridge to valley. Wonderful ridge path to small pasture, soon annoying new forest road endless. Past Vavčar farm back to start. Whole day met only one female hiker though parking full on return.

Today I set out for Kresišče from Srednji vrh, but only got to the end of the road before the ascent to Grajšca. Up to Hladnik the path was done by a tractor, but it was icy (small crampons recommended). From Hladnik I went with snowshoes, but it was still sinking deeply. At the end of the road where the path climbs through the forest towards Grajšca (altitude approx 1460 m) there was already about 60 cm of dry snow and I turned back. In the mountains it's already real winter at this altitude.

Today to Kresišče from Srednji vrh along Hladnik stream and over planina Grajšca. Path fully snow-covered. Up to the hut below Lepi vrh dragged with timber sledge, from the hut onwards snowshoes or skis needed because more and more snow. Path trodden to the top, snow dry, no crampons needed.

Were you at Kresišče on Saturday - there was an entry in the book. When I went yesterday, there were tracks of one with snowshoes, before that someone with skis.

Yes, now conditions are completely different. On Sunday they were optimal, and your footprints helped me too. But one more thing: Blaž, it seems we both like hiking in these parts a lot.
