Krn - Silva Korena Path

Print
sonny431. 05. 2018 18:49:09
Today via the Silva Korena path to the summit. In my opinion, by far the most pleasant path to Krn. Sometimes you need to climb, SVK recommended. The protections are in excellent condition. Winter gear is not needed.
The snowfield under the first anchor does not pose a problem.1

18. 9. 2018. The weather wasn't as forecasted. But you can't help it. The morning was still nice. Then more and more clouds covering the mountain. Lots of hikers. The hut was closed.
The morning promised a nice day.1

9.6. 2019. Seems no one hiked via Lužnica. I followed Ločanka's advice and we went via Korenova. Beautiful day perfect for this climbing path, as Dario and Robert went first time. Three more hikers joined, climbed together. 1700m elevation. Started at 6am in Drežnica. Less than five hours to Krn. Grasses dry. Before climbing cross snowfield, only one on path. Now full of flowers. Summit many hikers. Hut renovating, opens soon.

Good day. What is the snow situation on the path from Krn Lake?

9.6.2006, was at summit via Korenova, from top visible lots of snow still, worth waiting another week.

It'll still take some two weeks or more to melt it, if the sun shines without new rain with snow, my goal is Batognica this year, then sands to the monument and Lužnica lake back to Krn and the valley, nasmeh

No problem, just take it slowly until the snow is gone first and then enjoy the beauty and peace up there, nasmeh

Nice greeting. Has anyone hiked the title path in these days? Like most in this time, I'm also interested if it's dry over Koren. Thanks.

If it was dry on 9.6.2019, it's probably dry now too; you need to read the comments.zavijanje z očmizavijanje z očmi

Next week I'm planning an ascent to Krn, so some questions:
Where in the village Ladra (which will be the starting point) to leave the vehicle?
Is there a path through the forest from Ladra to Drežnica? Or better by road to Drežnica?
Do we have water supply options along the path, i.e., is there a spring by the path?
And is this path really so demanding?
Thanks!

Best to ask where you can leave the vehicle; the path is long and best to drive to the last village where you park the car. There's a trough with water on the path; now I don't know if there's still any water or not. There's also a footpath to the Zaprikraj pasture. For the path to Krn from there I don't know, I haven't been from that side yet. The path is demanding because you have to go over the Krn slab where the Italian Alpini charged from both ends of the slab and from behind.

Why park in Ladra? The path starts in the village Drežnica, but you can drive higher on the gravel road that branches off to the right between Drežnica and Drežniške Ravne. Best to have drinks with you. But on the way to the bivouac there's a lively stream and a trough under the bivouac.
The path's difficulty depends on experience; for some more, for others less, for a third nothing at all.

Starting point will be in Ladra because the goal on the ascent is to do more than 2000 m elevation gain... As for demanding paths, I have experience with Mrzle Gore, Skute, Turskeg žleba and both Kočne...

No sense in parking in Ladrah unless you plan ascent over Kuhinja instead. Kobarid at 235 m offers also 2000 m ascent, walk to Drežnica much easier. After turnoff to Drežnica there is parking, from there footpath to Kozjak waterfall and continue to Magozd, arrive in village and go on road to Drežnica. Road Kobarid-Drežnica is some km shorter but definitely not so pleasant on foot.

From Ladra to Drežnica the Path of Peace runs, with start at the quarry. Also no problems with parking.

Of course, I forgot that that also exists. Probably it is reasonably well arranged, though the question is how much actual traffic there is over it.

You probably don't know the trail. I don't know what traffic you're talking about. This is a footpath.
