Lisca-very demanding mountain trail

Print
MANGRT18. 06. 2015 21:41:53
This year PD Lisca celebrates 110 years of operation and for this occasion they opened a climbing route to Lisca, which nicely spices up the approach to the summit. Equipped with steel cable for self-belaying and lots of steps and pegs. The route has five pitches with the hardest-last one, which is short but overhanging.
I recommend it to anyone hurrying in this valley who likes something a bit different.nasmeh

Where is the starting point, parking...

You park below at Mastnak, go further up the road and right into the forest on the marked trail. It then brings you above Cirje, where you can choose hiking or that one.

Official PD Lisca page describes the path like this:

I'm a local, please! I used to hike to Lisca when nothing was marked yet! For that little climbing no need to drive right under the wall, better to warm up a bit, so from below, from Mastnak there's a marked path to Lisca and it's just the right hike. Then as you wish, one is easier, this one is harder!

For my taste, the route is a bit too "bolted".
Definitely a nice variation though.

just go one meter to the right or left.

Mailman, to Lisca from Mastnak I go many times too velik nasmeh, it's really a fine path. The official stance of the "local" mountaineering club recommends starting from Cirje or Podgorica - so your exclamation marks aren't needed nasmeh. Mainly I gave the link because of the difficulty rating.

Yeah, I get it, didn't mean anything bad, just the description makes it sound like no walking access but only by car. Straight from the steering wheel boom into the wall!eek actually you can get really sweaty in a good half hour from below!velik nasmeh

The route has also got a mention on national media.

Well, when I looked at the pictures under the article... oh dear... if some beginner tries to imitate what he sees in the pics he might kill himself :/

I know this isn't thankful, but still I'd like someone to compare that climbing route with others.
For example, is it easier than Pogačnik's path on Grmada, or Gonžarjeva peči?

I'd like to try it, but from me to Sevnica it's three hours by car no matter if I go through Brežice or maybe via Rogaška, Celje and then to Zidani most...

Marx, the route is harder than Pogačnik's on Grmada, especially the last part.... it's also longer than the mentioned one.
Still it's easier than Gonzarca....

From the description I guess you're from Maribor area or at least somewhere that direction. Closest to you for sure is to leave highway at Dramlje and drive past Sentjur towards Planina pri Sevnici and on to Sevnica....
Or second option Podčetrtek-Bistrica ob Sotli-Podsreda-Senovo-Brestanica-Sevnica

those mentioned routes are definitely closer...

p.s. The route is interesting, from the top you can quickly get back to the start, so it's a sin not to climb it multiple times in one day.
After the tour obligatory stop at the hut where they have very friendly prices for drinks ;-)

We went with a friend to experience the "latest wonder" on Lisca. For young and experienced probably not overly demanding, for somewhat less young or those who don't love such paths, it could be quite adrenaline-pumping. You need quite some strength in arms, without fear of heights and some courage in the heart. I go on such a path with respect and responsibility and plan B. How was it this time at the link
http://stezeinsledi.blogspot.com/2015/07/kako-se-po-novem-spleza-na-lisco.html

and good luck to all also on such pathsnasmeh

@trobec

And what on the RTV pictures is that which would put beginners in danger???

Žiga2217. 07. 2015 10:18:22
@klemen73

Non-use of the self-belay kit, instead use of regular nylon slings on the harness for "protection", non-use of the helmet under the wall.

This one I have to try soon, if I understood correctly the tour, with obligatory beer in the mt. hut, will take 2 hours? Cerje-ferata-summit-beer-easier path-Cerje I mean.

@klemen73:

almost everything :-) from choice of gear (slings, maillons, lack of gloves), to progression technique.

Slings we use only for resting (photos, snack - if no queue behind us :-) ) and not for protection, especially in combination with maillons... (lack of braking system; maillons usually jam, requiring more arm strength from the user to "properly clip")...

Lack of gloves is more noticeable in beginners, as they usually complete the ferrata with lots of blisters and lose grip strength due to pain.

In movement technique we pay attention to the smallest steps possible (see pic 16). In beginners, they either run out of arm strength or get too tired from "unusual moves".

I have nothing against someone who (really) knows ferratas using slings for protection (as they know the dangers and have enough strength and technical knowledge to complete such a short ferrata multiple times if needed).

A different attitude (and gear) we must have if we show progression on ferratas to the wider public...

I was up there this morning on this path. I'm a regular in the mountains, but a beginner and big enthusiast on ferratas, and I did the path without major efforts... If time allowed I'd go at least 1x more velik nasmeh
The last part is technically more demanding, but super for training. The whole climbing path isn't as long as I expected (still longer than Pogačnik's on Grmada), but of course all gear is needed (helmet, SVK, ferrata gloves,...)

And safe steps to all
