Lisca-very demanding mountain trail

Print
joža x22. 07. 2015 09:00:58
Yesterday, after work, Perot and I spiced up the afternoon with this ferrata - super for afternoon workout. Probably for the first time in my long mountain career I went reverse, as we chose the summit (mountain hut) as start, went down to Cirje on the normal path and back up the ferrata to the hut and car.

This afternoon I went on this climbing path. Equipped as needed and I must say, the belay is quite necessary. It is made for connoisseurs - short and sweet.

Afternoon training for high mountains: this time we chose Lisca. Anchors ok, rock solid only here and there soil deposit plays up. Difficulty level is very relative since even an eight-year-old girl can manage it.
Initial part with a slight overhang1
Somewhere in the middle2
Traverse in the last part3
The most difficult part and even with additional protection4
Experiences in nature are a true treasure.5

mangrt - whom are you underestimating, the eight-year-old girl or the trail? I'd keep the last sentence to myself and that's it.

In principle belaying on rope is recommended for children. Of course this SVK is very useful for teenagers, only the price isn't user-friendly...

Lately I've noticed more and more visitors on the secured trail without any safety gear. It's not about who is capable of what, just a warning: the following (quoted from FB page Friends of Lisca:

Bogdan Žibret, December 17 at 11:37am.
Warning!
Today, while descending the via ferrata, at the crossing on the fifth pitch, a rock piece 30-40cm diameter broke under my feet and fell into the valley. Besides that one, two smaller ones are unstable!! Authorities informed. Until removal, extreme caution in this section. Good luck!

Reply from Mountaineering Association Lisca Sevnica:
Thanks for the info and warning. Yesterday we checked the situation and removed some more dangerously loose rocks. We warn all hikers that self-belay gear (helmet, harness, via ferrata set) is mandatory! Safe stepping and good luck!

Slowly this stuff around the self-belay kit is getting on my nerves. Let it remain the decision of each individual.

Toni28, we're two already.
Mountaineering Association Lisca Sevnica should seriously think about what nonsense it posts publicly.

Personally I'm not against it. People just get the feeling that it's the key to success.

Toni28, I don't know how one could be "against". I don't care at all what others use. But I want others (including the PD) not to care what I use.

Sorry, little Slovenians. Now that I've got some thumbs down, I've realized the truth. I know you're right, right and right again. You always need a self-belay kit, two helmets, three carabiners, backpack with balloon, two mugs, donut, three ice axes and two crampons.
From now on I'll walk to the tram at home with the self-belay kit too.

For those who don't know how to read, or just skim the posts, but know how to pontificate. The essence of the post was that a part of the rock broke off and there were two more potential dangers.
Whoever followed the construction of the mentioned path knows that there were already some problems with friable terrain back then.

If that was the essence, then I don't know why you scolded all those who don't go to the mountains the way you imagine they should.

I won't comment, because your comments say everything about you.
If someone understood the meaning of my post correctly, if not, they will do as they think. Thanks.

It's hard to find such narrow-minded people as on this forum anywhere else. Enjoy your self-satisfaction.

These debates around SVK are unproductive.

Some of us were with parents 40 years ago, when we were 7 years old on Triglav, and we were with some string "tied" to father.

Others took on mountains completely differently, have a completely different philosophy, equipment is completely different.

Even "old-timers" are happy with new equipment. Obviously the difference remains in perceiving when it is necessary to use it.

For me there is room for both in mountains. Let everyone enjoy mountains.

With the best of intentions, I myself in our mountains (for myself) don't see the sense in using SVK, but if it helps someone to a greater sense of security, then for heaven's sake use it, of course, why not? What do you care what others think.

I expect the same in the opposite direction.

Yesterday morning up the ferrata, descent via Pastirčkovi. Nice around 2-hour loop, with us bypassing the 5th grade in the ferrata. Good luck nasmeh

As many as four demanding ferratas climbed in one day and still smiling faces. Just amazed at the incredible energy, fitness and will. Lots of luck and joy at ascents I wish also in the future and that it will soon be complete 3/3 or even 4/4 family lineup!
