On Sunday 18.12. quite a few were sledding. The last two or three turns had quite some rocks on the track, higher up it was pretty solid.
If snow falls on Saturday, it will be ideal on Sunday.

I was up there on 12.1.2012 afternoon/evening. Road from Ljubelj first dry, then icy, at top packed snow. For cushion sledding the road down Austrian side was much nicer, with lots more untracked snow on road + tire tracks from caretaker's car who drives up that side. Cushioning was great, return on SLO side very slippery. LP, Klemen

Today's conditions: ice, snow, grit... ice. Path mostly icy, even under remaining snow it's mostly ice. In short - crampons (any kind) recommended for walking.
As for sledding, I wouldn't be convinced, because on ice I prefer sliding (even that on flat, not slopes). True, I met only one sledder.
Otherwise fun as always up here, just wind today prevented sitting in the "kujavnik", and night still comes a bit too early.
Future conditions: according to the forecast probably different. Maybe finally more snowy...

This will be really interesting for kids, I've walked the path from Ljubelj to Košutica many times even when movement was restricted and never any problems.

Enough snow, if they groomed the track more often with snowcat, no bumps, but that's probably a whole project...

@capraibex: If they did what you say, it'd soon be deadly dangerous for regular sledders... How would one stop on a steep, smooth, and icy track? Check what accidents have happened up here... Best!

Talking about bumps, due to which sledders have already crashed. Safety is relative. The fence is just decoration, not enough snow for hard banks. Avalanches lurk on some parts.

For this hut, the PZS portal marks the opening as OSNP - that means weekends and holidays. For groups, special agreement. There are also phone numbers. I know that this winter they have already sledded on the road. It's a quite long sled track - from the hut to the Ljubelj parking.

The path is trodden, but there's no more than just a trail. Even that one is interrupted at places with some fallen tree and a landslide across the road.
