Due to rough intervention in the Lovren Lakes area, we were on a work action led by PZS and MDO Podravje. Excellent atmosphere at the action itself and even nicer conclusion. Greetings! Lajči

Today we continued with the work action, which despite the nice Sunday was attended by a nice number of diligent hands of Podravski MDO. Diligent girls took care that no one stayed hungry and thirsty. So many visitors jezerc as I saw today, not yet. Thanks to all organizers for the really excellently planned action. Lp. Lajči

Plan for Lovrenška fell at breakfast, followed drive, yeah hard to stay focused with such nicely colored forests left and right when driving from Mb to Koroška. Every fall they enchant me already... When you turn towards Lovrenc concentration on the road is necessary if you want to reach the starting point at Stara Glažuta. Morning still some cloudiness but a wonderful day developed, sun awaited me at Dom na Klopnem, then peace and quiet to Pesek. From Pesek to Lovrenška lakes quite some hikers, sun, a bit of snow on the path, golden-yellow larches along the path....
yeah really I'm a bit shorter but...1

joža, wonderful, I agree with what is written above, I was yesterday in Podvelka, where I spiced up the bus wait by observing wonderfully autumn-colored Pohorje forests, if the sun had shone too it would have been quite kitschynasmehmežikanje

Yesterday after breakfast the decision fell, we are going to Lovrenška lakes. A nice circular path follows on Rogla.

Today my wife and I also convinced our daughter and son to join us on a somewhat easier trip. In the afternoon we drive to Rogla and head towards the Lovren Lakes. Weather was excellent, almost no wind, sun warming nicely, mushroom pickers everywhere in huge numbers. Slowly we cross meadows and through the forest head to the lakes. At every step you can feel summer is ending and autumn times beginning, when nature serves its wonderful colors. Around the lakes it's really wonderful and nice to sit on a bench next to them and watch dragonflies still hunting last warm days and happily flying around the lakes.
Even some light hiking sometimes feels good and we didn't regret it.

I didn't know exactly where to post the conditions on my path, so let it be here.nasmeh

So on Wednesday, May 1st, done tour: Mislinja - Črni vrh - Ribniška koča - Lovren Lakes - Rogla - Volovica - Mislinja.
To Črni vrh mostly dry, just here and there small snow patch, "highway" between Črni vrh and Ribniška koča still snowy, to Ribniški vrh dry again. From here on snow again, where no snow, quite some water. At Ribniško sedlo completely dry, as we climb to the height of Lovren Lakes snow amount increases. Here and towards Rogla conditions almost wintery with snow amount (10-30 cm), good that pleasant spring sun shines, allowing walking in short sleeves. At Rogla practically no snow, when I head back into forest towards Volovica, snow appears again. When I descend from Volovica below 1400m, snow gone for good and circle closed in Mislinja.

In short, to sum up, in Pohorje forests (this area) above 1400m still quite some snow, meadows already dry, otherwise thanks to melting snow quite some water everywhere. Path wonderful, views nice, Pohorje forests lush, definitely worth seeing and strolling.

For May 1st I expected more visitors, crowd only on Lovren Lakes - Rogla section.

Nice regards.

Today I went to Pohorje to see the Lovren Lakes. I chose Ribnica na Pohorju as starting point. Mom told me to drive up to the hut, no I'll do that when I'm old and can't walk that much. So I park in the town center at the ski slopes. Completely alone, no one on this route. Along the track, through forest all nicely marked. First I reach koča na Pesniku, across the road back into forest. After good hour I'm already in front of Ribniška koča. Snack and continue to Jezerski vrh where monument is. Then path descends to sedlo Šiklarica. Here I meet crowds of hikers. Path starts rising again over meadows then forest, some views from path. At Lovrenških lakes again crowd. Sightseeing and return same way. Before Jezerski vrh I turn right and see also Ribniško jezero. Still time enough, weather nice too just wind occasionally strong but not cold. So I cut shortcut under Malim Črnim vrhom to Črni vrh highest point of Pohorje. After formalities return direction Ribniška koča and descent to start. Nice day was but yeah would go higher but where I plan still snownasmeh

Too bad the weather didn't hold a bit longer, as yesterday's nice day was meant for visiting graves. Today the weather completely turned. Already at home a strong wind was blowing, carrying heavy clouds across the sky. Nevertheless, with my wife we drive to Koča na Pesku where we are met by occasional strong southwest wind and fog. In not very pleasant conditions we set off towards Lovrenška Lakes. The path in the initial part from the water intake at Mašinžaga is quite torn up, as higher in the forest they are logging a lot and tractors are dragging logs to the road. Further the path is nice and quite dry, the fog didn't bother us either, as there are no special views on this path even in good weather. At the lake we immediately notice a new, nicely made tower. On the boardwalk path we circle the lakes, which even in fog and wind offer all their beauty. We had originally planned to extend the path to Ribniška koča, but due to the bad weather we changed our mind. We turned towards Rogla and past the tower descended back to Pesek. So we finished despite the bad weather a nice circular path on Zreško Pohorje. Next time I hope up there already with skis on the roof.nasmeh

Yesterday 6.5.2014 at Lovren Lakes. Start in front of hotel Planja at Rogla. Then head on path next to artificial lake for ski slope at Rogla. And at monument turn slightly right to sedlo Komisija. Continue path off-trail and back to marked path all to goal. Otherwise path quite easy and without specials and no snow on path. But really Lovren Lakes deserve name jewel of Pohorje and worth visiting right now when lots of water in basins. And I spent nice sunny day at Lovren Lakes and will visit again nasmehnasmeh

On Sunday, 4th May, I set off from Lovrenc na Pohorju towards Lovren Lakes on a somewhat less known path. In the book Planinski vodnik po gorah severovzhodne Slovenije it is nicely described. The path is excellently marked so there is no doubt one would get lost; all praise to PD Lovrenc. Some pics below, more about the path on the link below.
