From Planica along the hunting path only to Vratca nice, wonderful, secluded corner of our mountains, the cirque of Spodnji Grunt always fascinates me anew, really a fairy-tale place. Also meet the Glave. Will return when larches "glow".

Like many before me in this summer heat I also chose the loop from upper lake to Vratca and back to lower lake. The path past Zacchi hut is really nicely arranged, almost all the way to Vratca it looks like in some park nasmeh

. Last couple 10 meters a bit overgrown path, but no big deal. Since I had my little dog with me, I didn't go to the summit of Little Ponca. On return under the hut I turned right towards lower lake. Adrenaline insert right after the "chapel" nicely spices up the path and isn't as unpleasant as it looks at first glance and in photos. After that part it just flies on steep zigzags through the forest. In an hour and a half I'm at the lower lake, but since I was without leash for the doggy (forgot at home zadrega

), can't go to the car on the main road. I take the path that partially circles the lake and halfway enters the forest and brings me to upper lake, which I bypass on the left and I'm already at the car. Nice tour, but it would be worth doing once over Vratca down to Planica, really!

At Koča Zacchi. Italians don't know about Mala Ponca...

Nature has played around here quite a bit :-)

The path to Mala Ponca from Planica is impassable. Today I tried and after about an hour I had enough and turned back. The question is, given that the path is unmarked and no one maintains it, when, if at all, it will be cleared

but over this I really didn't want to go

the path is hidden somewhere under fallen trees

I strongly doubt that, due to not too high traffic, as well as the huge amount of fallen trees. But today a guy with a chainsaw was clearing the path to Ciprnik where I headed afterwards, the path to Ciprnik also has some obstacles over or under which you can get.

2 weeks ago from Rateče over vratica and then along path 512 to the lower lake and back to Rateče, that is, you can also get to Mala Ponca nasmeh

Path 512 from the lower lake is closed (tape and sign), so we went to Mala Ponca via the other branch of this path, past Zacchi hut. Below the shelter (which stands a bit above the path) both paths join and continue as path 512a towards Vratce (to Tamar), the section under Vratce to Mala Ponca is unmarked but followable (gully to saddle and left to more accessible summit - the real one is right but annoying). Impression: beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. This undergrowth made it green, spring-like with blooming rhododendrons and nice views. Larches as if just greened, I can see how nice in autumn when yellow.

After a long time back on this beautiful viewpoint. Start (per Mihelič) on the mulatjera to the ski jump, higher along the ridge (to avoid fallen trees) and through the valley (under the bivouac) to the bivouac under Glave. Continuation classic to Ovčja strana. Ascent through the cirque and to Vratce all on ideal powder. On the other side completely wind-packed snow, so we almost crawled to the saddle just with snowshoes. (Climbing gear was just for decoration)... the route is now "ratrak-ed", so recommend to snowshoe fans.

in the middle section completely spring mulatjere

to avoid fallen trees we go to the right along the ridge

under Glava we climb from the valley to the PP

despite abundant drift, the path could somehow be followed (it helps if you know it)

still up the gully and to the left, easier summit

Not a high peak, but considerable effort is needed to reach it (otherwise to the higher real peak I would have gone, but the snow was too crusty)

...Mala Ponca - circular path ...

Ascent past Zacchi hut, the path is nice. Then descent to shelter and continuation along left path towards lower Belopeško lake. Part of path is in disrepair but passable.. nasmeh

Somewhere mid-week my brother-in-law and I decided that this Sunday when nice weather we would seek the Hunter's trail to Mala Ponca, which we read on forum is wonderful. Start at 6am from before Planica (2.5 eur/day - Learn something Bohinjci! velik nasmeh

) and direct into bed of white stream, where we stick to left bank, viewed in direction of walk. There seek well visible trail that leads to forest. Trail very quickly steeply ascends in switchbacks and soon we came to first fallen trees. Here leave trodden trail and continue forward along ridge, which again higher brings us to trail. When fallen trees really big, trail can't be followed anymore. Here of course lost some time to study where (by our reasoning) trail should turn and so bypassed fallen trees and slowly ascended indistinct ridge. When world slightly levels, then started slowly crossing left to hillside, where then again found trail. On way back also placed some cairns for next guests of these ends. From here on no problems. Enthused over wonderful and hidden world ascended under Glave to Vratca, then to lower of Little Poncas. Views phenomenal, larches already slightly gilded, views today even to Dolomites, also Grossglockner shone in sun. Simply - wonderful! Warmly recommend for lovers of peace and quiet and pristine nature nasmeh

Ok, just don't understand why necessary to put new cairns?! Existing completely sufficient, trail also despite fallen trees nicely followable. jezen

Good that you and similars don't find PP. Would you put cairns there too... Maybe even some line with spray make?
