Yesterday we visited Mrzla gora with classmates. There's almost no snow on the trail, and even where there is, it doesn't hinder the safe approach to the mountain. It was also very hot yesterday. The tour is very demanding, as it has few fixed protections (actually just right ). Some pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/matic.ivancic/MrzlaGora# lp, Matic

Hehe, physicists I was on Mrzla gora in 2007, and I really liked it. Went from Okrešelj to MG, then down to Matkov kot. 9 hours of pleasure!

I told you, it's not that bad then! What sticks in my memory most (4th photo) I say here: now over the roof!! From afar it looks pretty bad, when you don't see the deep grooves in the limestone, which give good holds and steps. regards

Thanks for the tip qeppo. Last time I preferred the less difficult path. Next time also from Matkov kot, and if someone joins so even better! regards

Hi, hill climbers, what is the path to mrzla gora like? It really pulls me to go up there even alone, PIKICA.

Hey, better not go up there alone. It's too steep. Invite someone along, then it'll be fine. And it's nicer in two

Thanks for the advice, but I really like steep paths, and that it's nicer in two also counts.

Bremzi, it's true that it's nicer in two. In this case, especially safer. With Mrzla gora apparently there's no joke. I think even on this forum someone wrote that although he had hiked many very demanding trails, he turned back 100 meters below the summit on Mrzla gora. I myself haven't been to Mrzla gora yet, but according to those who have, it's really quite adrenaline-packed.

The Savinja mountains are like home to me, almost every free weekend I'm there. I've been to all mountains but Mrzla gora from Okrešlj really tempts me the most because it's supposedly more demanding than from Matkov kot where I already went but in fog so I didn't have nice view and a bit of adrenaline because they scared me that it's demanding.

Every now and then this topic about Mrzla gora opens up. Assessing difficulty is subjective. It's a mountain where I've stood on the summit several times. - not for everyone - I agree - a moment of inattention and you stray from the path - the path from Okrešlj to the summit of M.g. or descent is not as crumbling as in Škaf - the hardest part in my opinion is the descent from the summit to Latvice - even then the descent to Matkov kot is not trivial, just don't stray! - all accidents in recent years happened - STRAYED FROM THE PATH (then rescue or slip)!! when you return to the trails to the safe path and adrenaline subsides, you say - I'LL VISIT THIS SUMMIT AGAIN!! Regards

geppo, thanks for the encouraging words. On Sunday I'll head up there to where I'll get; if not, that's fine too. Important is to participate and not to win at any cost. Nice regards.

I recommend you invite some friend along, take a rope, some peg and hammer, and it'll be fine. The path from Okrešlj is more demanding than from Škaf because there's more climbing and fewer protections. But in good weather it's really enjoyable. LP

I think without rope and hammer it'll go without problems. Go from Mrzli dol (Okrešlj). Just watch the blazes - the rest is a bit of climbing and you're good! Weather is really important!!!!!!!! Lp

Given the frequency of errors due to "strayed from the path" at this place I urge the blazers to provide proper path marking as soon as possible! Mrzla gora should remain Mrzla gora with fewer overbuilt paths.

We would like to go to Mrzla gora from Matkov Škaf, wondering if there's still any snow on that side. Lp

Check. 3 weeks ago there was still a visible long snowfield. I think it hasn't melted and you'll encounter snow. Which shouldn't cause you significant problems. Maybe you'll have more trouble finding the path. The road to the valley is closed - barrier (at least there was one) quite soon at the beginning. So at least an hour more walking to the Škaf than usual. Lp

Next week we're heading from Matkov Škaf - Mrzla gora - Okrešelj. Transport needed with two cars (one waits at Okrešelj with the other in Matkov kot). Anyone with own transport can join - at ZS where we can arrange! Lp

So nobody takes Okrešelj literally (car) - meant is the parking lot below!! Lp

geppo, have you been to Mrzla gora? If yes, please write something, I'd like to go this year also from this side. Idea with two cars is o.k., I'd join.
