Yeah if they've already put the bivouac on stones and planks, then they already know when the new bivouac will be placed, most likely soon. So that this bivouac doesn't stay up there in this state for another three months. And that the wind doesn't blow it away before.

Our guys in the museum still have some time, since there haven't been many Romanians on the roads in Italy yet .

Years ago according to the story, Czechs at Koča na Doliču wanted to carry even a thick log on their shoulders to Vrata .They struggled with the log's weight for a while, but after just a few 100 m they capitulated .

They "destroyed" the old one, there won't be a new one. But, you go to the mountains when the forecast is good and return to the valley the same day.

The bivouac is 80 years old, no one destroyed it, in such conditions where it stood, it's a real miracle that it lasted so many years. Shame that the chatterers from PZS can't agree to put it in a museum and preserve the memory of mountaineers from those times. Joža Čop and all those who are gone are turning in their graves. Otherwise thanks to all who are working on the new bivouac and mountaineers let's be glad that someone still cares for safety in the mountains these days. Thanks again!

"Modern crate shouldn't seek anything up here." says little slovencelj. of course it's much better to keep the 80-year-old bivouac where you hope you won't get tetanus or a mouse bite. number two has served its purpose (long ago) and is directly suitable for a museum exhibit, precisely because it's a LEGENDARY bivouac and it needs to be preserved and not thrown away like an old sock. but this anti-modern logic of true little slovenceljns... I don't know... why then modern climbing rope, when you could drag up there the old one from 1930, which is several times heavier? probably in the 30s bivouac 2 was also considered "mountain decadence" - a bunch of shiny tin in mountain paradise? seems they were more modern back then than today... or rather Slovenes who looked forward and not little slovenceljns who look back!

and now "slovenčki" are guilty because some (even though warned from the start) don't understand the concept of reconstruction as provided by the TNP law? even all these super architects didn't manage to figure out that reconstruction is possible only within the same dimensions? where have we come to, if someone points out irregularities, they're immediately "project destroyer", "stick thrower"...who are you to think you can build/reconstruct outside the conditions set by the TNP law?

"even all these super architects didn't manage to figure out that reconstruction is possible only within the same dimensions?" - both Žakl's "bivouacs". - bivouac at Kotovo sedlo=pure modernism. - bivouac at Prehodavci, which is almost a hut and not a bivouac (in modern style). - not in TNP, but still - bivouac under Grintovec?!?!?! if they follow rules let them follow rules EVERYWHERE - not sometimes yes and sometimes no...

Rutil I agree, rules should be followed everywhere. most urgently they should start with Žakl and his arbitrary destruction of nature.

I don't want to get into TNP laws and how sensible they are. It's right that they exist. But many times it's shown that they are not "practical". What interests me is - despite TNP having a lot of authority, where is it then, when hordes of visitors to our mountains occupy e.g. bivouac IV and since there are so many that they can't all squeeze in, they set up a whole tent camp and leave behind - utter horror. This problem is known for some time and it's exactly known when the rush is biggest.

Just one comment about Žakl- I don't know why, but TNP suits that he's at Morbenci. Maybe so that accidentally no new hut appears there sometime? Can't find another reason. For the two it's a shame, I myself sleep up there a couple times a year and was glad for the new bivouac. Maybe in coming years another opportunity shows up and we can replace it. And to link to Benjot- I was about 10 years ago caretaker of three- probably last painted then. Despite that I think bivouacs like that are suitable for replacement. Opportunity to replace one fell through years ago due to local patriotism (instead a bivouac grew at Kotovo sedlo). Instead of two probably a new bivouac under Skuta will grow, the Jesenice ones (I,II,III,IV) will collapse into themselves in time, as they are too precious for replacement. Mitja Šorn

Does anyone know when some bivouac will be set up at this place, or won't they return the old one, which is hard for me in the rush to V. Oltar.

End of September after eight and a half months we finished the reconstruction of Bivak II at Jezerih! Photo report, video and story of the reconstruction is here. Hooray to all volunteers, members of AO Jesenice, collaborators and above all determined individuals and donors, that the bivouac of all bivouacs stands again!
