Let me revive this topic a bit, I add quite a lot of salt and sugar to the water, taste isn't exactly the best, but it helps a lot, especially with cramps.

Lately I drink only warm mountain tea on the trail. I have a 3 liter bladder and insulation for it. I sweeten the tea quite strongly and add a couple spoons of cedevita or lemon juice to it. I eat very much, big portions wherever I am and wherever I go I never look at caloric value, but only that I eat about 300 grams of food

300 g food is otherwise two slightly larger apples or bananas. If that's a lot of food ...

300 grams is minimum I was talking about food and not about fruit I've never looked at fruit as a meal.

Well-meaning warning! On June 28 I poisoned myself with buckwheat porridge in Mozirje hut on Golte. I needed a good week to come to myself. Such digestive problems I don't wish to anyone, let alone stomach and belly pains. I was already afraid that because of porridge I'd go whistling to cancer. In short AVOID PORRIDGE ON GOLTE IN A WIDE ARC!!!!!

Probably some spoiled buckwheat was to blame, good you're still alive!

I already found it suspicious when I waited almost an hour before getting them on the table, sure there were 40 of us, but still way too long before I ate them. They were good though, have to admit, but something wasn't right, I think they were undercooked. Anyway I decided: from now on snack always in backpack, no more žganci or jota or sour soups in huts, and my friend suffers less.

You're not used to homemade food, what do you think happens at farms when you start eating homemade milk, sour milk, surely those not used to it run to the WC after half an hour, not to mention cottage cheese. Homemade is homemade, whatever we cook at home I eat everything because I know exactly where it's from and what's in it.

Don't generalize and don't mix pears and apples. I'm very used to homemade food, I come from the countryside too, and otherwise I join more rural-oriented hikes where at every farm you get something homemade to eat. If some food is spoiled then no one is an exception, even you would fly to the WC right away if the cottage cheese or sour milk in Butajnova was questionable or inedible.

I've hugged the toilet bowl even from sandwiches from the backpack, so really no rule about it.

Regards. Wondering if anyone else ate buckwheat and later had similar problems. Possible that some combination with other stuff you ate and drank endangered you. (beer or wine)

Buckwheat žganci are "heavy". Even if unspoiled you can have problems.

Miri, I've never had problems with any food, my metabolism works very fast, sometimes even too fast. They say not to eat e.g. buckwheat or mushrooms before sleep, but I always say who invented that. How many times have I cooked buckwheat for dinner and slept well after, no heaviness in stomach, same with mushrooms, best in evening.

Nice to be on mountain pastures Nice to be on mountain pastures, there is lots of milk to drink. Shepherd says: soup, soup! on mountain pastures it's nice. On mountain pastures sun shines, while valleys still fog covers. Shepherd says: soup, soup! on mountain pastures it's nice. Shepherdess pastures cows, she has her own tricks. Shepherd says: soup, soup! on mountain pastures it's nice. Shepherdess cooks buckwheat, black fly falls in pot. Shepherd says: soup, soup! eat such buckwheat yourself!

I'm interested where to get dehydrated food!? Some time ago you could buy it at Decathlon, lately it's not there anymore. I know there were two types - 400g bag. Maybe someone knows!? Thanks

I checked online... 125g for 7€ is quite a bit too little inside and a bit too expensive. I looked at Mountain House on eBay, same thing too little to eat and about 2-3€ more expensive... I thought if there's some shop, you go buy and go.
