LUČE/OJSTRI PEAK 1371m

Ojstri Peak is probably completely unknown to mountain lovers driving from Luče towards Igla. The rocky cliffs under Dleskovška plateau are quite inviting.. The peak (Ojstri) isn't visible, just the ridge to it. Usually (at least me), when driving by I always say to myself: "sometime I'll go up there to check!" Others are also interested in that part under Dleskovška plateau. cool

So the decision fell quickly, which we've had in our heads for quite a while..... No descriptions found anywhere. ..we'll figure it somehow? Pika grabs the map and outlined hunting paths. cool

Forest road and after cca. 1km drive we park (7:45). Where? Complete unknown where to start? Under the walls with no view of what's above? No hunting path can be found. Stumbling through logs we spot the honed ridge high above. Decision: "let's try to reach it!" Blindly through brush steeply up to first rocks. No trace of paths. Climbing the ridge and no one knows where we are? From one rocky spire to another with no end in sight. Return will be harder, but no one worries yet. Hope the ridge won't get too tough. Rocks stacked, sharp, some crumble on hold. Suddenly before a rocky spire where ridge vanishes. Drop lower and on nice rocky ledge find passage. This must be Ojstri Peak!!! Climb narrow ridge to other side and some fairly vertical wall to summit. SUMMIT!!! velik nasmeh

Happy we finally found Ojstri Peak.
Check surrounding walls, make plans ahead, set up little man. Where down to saddle?? Manage to find it and soon in forest seen from top. Check variants and find traceable path to Poljšakova planina. Find nice visible hunting trail back to start (13:45).
All participants thrilled. All actively joined so we shook hands for excellent tour. If knew return access, wouldn't be so demanding. Last bit before summit a tad harder. Ridge we roamed only for experienced wild off-trail.

Nice feeling when such a trip succeeds right from the start, especially if you have no description and only rough direction. But the male part unanimously concluded that there are still plenty of exploration possibilities in these parts, so there will surely be another report wink

A couple of mine too

up steep grass slopes to the ridge which becomes increasingly rocky

without the little bridge it would have been tricky

Nice, nice! By pics it looks quite demanding off-trail. I've walked quite a bit on Dleskovška plateau, but this seems one of harder accessible peaks to me.

Bravo, I've been there many times, there are still remains
of forest hut on the plateau to the right, more under
Poljšakova?? Anyway it was marked in the past,
but past Ojstri peak
further to Lučka hut, which is no more!!
There were some plans a couple of years ago to renew this path..... Wonderful places,
where only silence whispers, may they stay like that! LP

"lino" Demanding off-trail if you tackle Ojstri via ridge, like we did. Otherwise the summit access itself is not that hard, but not easy. Pretty hard to find the way to the ridge though and I think not many will repeat the ridge traverse. No tracks either (except chamois).

Didn't continue to Poljšakova planina. Satisfied because we spotted a path probably leading there. Next time need to explore more...

Access to the ridge is also... We crawled at the start to the far right ridge (forest visible behind it). Then along this ridge and found access to the main ridge.

It happened on Saturday. Original plan was Olševa, but during the drive we were tempted to the other side of Savinja. We parked at Vavdi and chatted with the owner who hinted a bit what awaits us on the path. mežikanje

We started on the forest road and a bit higher turned off it onto a nice ridge leading up to Slanice. The path on the ridge is easily trackable and panoramically beautiful. Especially at the very beginning, great peek down to Igla. From Slanice we continued to the path from Belšekova planina, found the path to lk and took a longer break there. velik nasmeh

. There far below under the mists we spotted Ojstri vrh. Then to Smrekovec and from it with a little searching mežikanje

found the path down to Jezartica. In the pond I cooled my worn overheated knees nasmeh

and then ascent to Ojstri vrh. Then we panicked eek

because we couldn't find the path for further descent to the valley on the left unknown side under the Ojstri vrh ridge. So at 6 pm, already almost dark and in completely unknown wilderness......, still at the same height. When we were already preparing the overnight scenario, we finally saw the right trail and descended by romantic headlamp glow. Part of the road we even got a ride from the worried Vavdi farm owner who came to look for us. Thanks to him! After 11h strenuous and very demanding hike that suited us well.
Drive home was quite short, so many impressions for debate accumulated on this beautiful tour.

Congrats, friends, wild areas, right?!
Interesting that forest hut still stands after
many years, I even overnighted there once! Flew several times from Raduha
along Slanice, what fantastic walls,
towers drop to Igla, crazy views!!
What about those big caves between Poljšakova
and V.vrh, lowest part of plateau??
Know them, once I fought through there,
barely escaped to Devic ridge!!
Now I really promised myself to go again
a bit to those parts nasmeh

Zlatko, there really was a lot of interesting stuff and there still is. velik nasmeh

cico, the forest hut is in quite bad shape and serves as shelter for livestock. That part with the rock shelters still awaits me. But we found remains of the Lučka hut on Brinova peč. Just a pile of rotten beams with stove in the middle. nasmeh

We'll go up again in a day or so, maybe meet. mežikanje

Circular path past Ojstri vrh
We did the path around Ojstri vrh today. We were afraid Milan and Janez would forget where they wandered recently velik nasmeh

. Weather forecast for this Thursday was somewhat promising.
In the morning light rain greets us in Luče and peaks in fog. Much is already familiar and we quickly advance to the saddle under Ojstri vrh. Climbing rock is too cold (snow remnants in places). Soon we were blowing on frozen fingers. On top fairly strong S wind blows. We didn't linger long. In shelter Mateja surprises us with incredibly good dessert. cool

After indulgence we continue towards Križevnik. In between we visit remains of collapsed Lučka koča. Snow in forest. Winter inexorably approaches. Continue past collapsed forestry hut. Up here it's like time stopped, only nature does its thing...
Follows fairly demanding descent above sheer walls, crossing (icy, snow, wet-slippery soil) and climbing in dry rock. Wonderful views of Križevnik, Raduha, Olševa...
Break in sun and shelter to warm frozen fingers. Follows steep descent in forest. No visitor tracks anywhere. Only occasionally faint paths used more years ago. Now they vanish in undergrowth and nature carefully erases traces...
After approx. 9 hours wandering back at start.
Wild, abandoned, quite demanding orientation. In between nice climbing details in compact unbreakable rock. Descent along scenic ridge and wonderful steep forest. High mountains winter shows charms and no warmth today either.

Mateja pleasantly surprises us ... the desserts she carries with her are beautiful in appearance and taste!

Former water reservoir, quite deep. The reservoir's depth surprised us.

A more demanding descent section awaits us, with traverses and also upward climbing

Towards Križevnik. Higher up the larches are white.

Below Slanice. This part is also extremely beautiful and exposed.

She laughs from the top again, damn fast she is on the wall. She already showed us that last time in the walls of Križevnik.

Part of the team wanders around Aljažev stolp today, Stanko and I headed to Dleskovska planota.
Paths around Ojstri vrh are still unknown to him, so there...
Together we decide to find the passage where Janez and Milan got "stuck" two months ago. So, under the S wall of the ridge to Ojstri vrh. At the start there is still a traceable path that soon disappears. Then through magical forest, moss, fallen trees, wall on the left, wall on the right and huge boulders that crashed into this gully a century ago. Such an atmosphere that Stanko asks: "Is it possible a bear lives here?" ?? cool

Caverns in the wall and then carved in stone 16,8,15..?? So someone circled around here recently too...?? rolling eyes

Then on oddly shaped rock barely visible arrow...?? rolling eyes

No path though and slope riddled with trees felled in ice years ago.
Soon we reach under Ojstri vrh and spot natural window in wall. We climb to Ojstri vrh and enjoy the sun.
Next plan is to continue to Dleskovec. A bit on "path", a bit our own way and increasingly familiar. So we reach Smrekovec 1611m in snow and continue to Planina Ravne. We sit in sun, drink beer and think how to get circular back to start? Map has "dots" from Ravne, but where is that path...?
We also solve this riddle successfully cool

and in less than two hours do descent on nicely traceable unmarked path. So we managed only approx. 100m on same path.
Covered almost 10km. Hiked total 6h. Found that there are still quite a few unexplored paths... cool

Otherwise, warm, sunny, in northern areas over 1400m still frozen snow.

Ojstri vrh
Nice sunny day we use to visit Ojstri vrh. So forgotten it hides, we had to pay attention to it. Anyway, in December Stanko and I wandered here and found "new" approach. Today we went to check and look for other options. Got task to check flowering of avrikelj along the way.
We took the tasks seriously and combed the whole area thoroughly. No nicely made paths found. Stanko and I approached correctly, but bit easier left of our ascent, less fallen trees and slope milder..
Of course not without climbing short gully (could avoid normally, but...). We ascend to Ojstri vrh. Milan and Janez already search their approach in wall (once searched up, now search down.. confused

).
We descend from Ojstri, ascend to ridge start. Rock warm, no wind. Follows only scrambling down ridge. At nicest part take time for photos. Avrikelj delights with yellow flowers. Abundant on SW side.
Reach place where main ridge ends sheer. Right find new nice ridge. Too soon out of rock into steep forest (really steep!). Hit traces of path rarely used now. After 5 hours back at start.
No snow on our path anymore. Lake JEZARTICA still in snow. Found descent by ridge easier. Of course due to approach to ridge start (STEEP!!). Recommend if repeating do same and down ridge.
