Due to unremarkable weather, off on MTB tour again. Start at 9am to avoid possible showers. From Pržan to Sora in half an hour, then followed ascent on road 7km to saddle at Rožnik. Didn't get on the bike because of wet terrain. Also below by road due to frequent rains, the earthy slope spills onto the road - signs beware! At hunting hut I always eat delicious blueberry pie, (so life will be sweeter - ha ha!) and after peaks covered in fog I speed down to valley. Down in 10min, then half hour home. Nice MTB tour, even though at start so steep it stands you upright like on cross tracks. Hill climb times: Distance 37 km, Avg. speed 19km/h, total ride time 1:55h. Regards - Rok

This morning I went from Hrastnica to Osovnik. The path through the forest is not trodden, only some footprints were old a day. A spruce is fallen on the path. When I came out of the forest a bit further to the path coming from Puštal it was trodden. No sun, but the walk was great.

Today we went to Osovnik after fresh and untrodden snow. Nice trip and considering we were compacting the path after fresh snow from Sora to the top, there was no lack of laughter.

I recommend small crampons for Osovnik from Ločnica in the lower part, because it was very icy in the morning, for the path by the stream, not needed on the road, and some pics

Morning ascent or better said walk to Osolnik was quite nice given the weather. I go up from the parking lot in Ločnica and through the cabin to the top. At the top there were few people for Saturday, but the peace was all the more pronounced. Views today didn't even reach the Kamnik Alps, everything was wrapped in clouds and fog. I only checked out nearby Lubnik and Škofja Loka. On the way back I had to stop at the cabin because of the freshly baked blueberry strudel. In between I even talked to Mr. Bogdan, who years ago helped Francelj with food supplies at the Shelter under Špičko. Of course all goods were carried in backpacks from Vršič back then, payment was good (Francelj wrote down quite a few kg more than the colleague brought, PD Matica in Ljubljana paid accordingly), well deserved! One 20th May morning after the previous full-day trudging from Vršič to the hut, after a surprisingly quiet night, they couldn't open the entrance door as a meter of new snow had drifted overnight. The sun was already quite strong, so he descended alone after four days, the caretaker stayed in the hut. When I got to the road where the gathering of old vehicles (oldtimers; cars, motorcycles with sidecars) was merrily driving on to Katarina, a little shower started falling from the sky.

Today when there's fog in the valley it's a very pleasant walk to Osovnik

Cuckoos are already diligently spreading their call and lily-of-the-valley bloom along the hill paths, let them stay in our eyes. It was pleasant yesterday on Osolnik, and hills are always cool. No known views, blame the murky sky. But full of blooming dandelions, so girls could weave them into braids. Best regards to all!

@ja Otiv Osolnik is very nice; I particularly like the path where you leave the car a bit further from Sorica and go steeply along the small stream to the Dom na Govejeku, then on to the cabin and of course to the top at the church; if you're diligent extend to Tošč, Gonte, and back to the car (then a bit dragging along the road to the car ); lp

pohodnica 53, starting point Sorica is 3 days' ride away , Probably you meant Ločnica valley, starting point at Legastja from where the road to Govejek starts

@pinkerton, thanks, sorry , because I don't know exactly, as you say Ločnica valley (I thought it was something to do with Sorica river); we left the car by the road by the stream (so Ločnica) (like many others), then up the stream into the forest, past scattered small "huts", it's a beaten path, first to Dom na Govejeku; no road here, forest; but this part of the path is really exceptionally nice, and though I'm from afar, I've repeated the tour many times; lp from "Styrian end"

Pohodnica 53, the river you mean is not Sorica but Sora. Sorica is the village below Soriška planina, above the village is the source of that river. LP

I've also been to Osolnik. We left the car at the church in Sora village and headed right above the parking to the trail, which steeply ascends for a while, crosses the road and then most of the way through forest, otherwise very nice, about 2-hour well-marked path, which of course steeply rises to the very top at the end. Whoever hasn't gone this way, I strongly recommend it.

Usually I head to Osolnik from Hrastnica, today a bit differently from Puštal. A really nice path leads through the green beech forest. Today on the path I'm accompanied by rain, fog and cuckoo song. Quickly I'm at Brnikova planota, where wind chases thick fogs that have descended right to the ground. I always like to sit on this panoramic edge but today I stop only to catch my breath a bit. Fog covers the views but it doesn't bother me much, slowly I head on over wet grassy slopes towards Osolnik. A bit below the church I meet a hiker who was already returning. I walk past the church and look towards Anžic and Rožnik farms but see nothing, fog swirls all around. I go to "my" favorite bench on Osolnik to look across to Sv. Andrej, of course it was also hidden behind fog curtain. But Osolnik on clear days offers exceptionally nice views despite its modest 858m height. It was a nice rainy day on Osolnik. No photos today, forgot the camera at home. Be well and happy.

Since the weather was so-so today, I headed to Osolnik from Sora with the quiet intention of finding some mushrooms. I really spotted two birch boletes, which were unfortunately wormy, and a nice slippery jack. There was fog at the top and it was lightly drizzling. When I visited Homa peak before Osolnik, I could see the KSA quite well, but fog soon covered them. Since it got even cloudier soon, I headed down, shortly after it started raining too, but only for a short time. Still, I enjoyed it and got some exercise.

Likewise I was on Osolnik today? (Osovnik) namely route Puštal - Osovnik. Ascent took 2h with intermediate stops, descent about 1h 40m. I highly recommend the trail as it's very varied, at the end a bit steeper climb to the church itself. At the very end on descent we got a bit caught by rain but we had anoraks . PS: Pictures taken with mobile phone. LP.

What could be nicer than a little walk in nature, and that's what I did today, even though there was no morning freshness to cool the heated body, as I had quite a fast pace, from Sora to the top I needed one hour and fifteen minutes. I wasn't alone on the path, some were already returning from the top and others coming behind me. In short, pleasant with useful on Sunday morning. For dinner, parasol mushroom from Osolnik. Best regards!

A week has passed and again uphill. Improved the time from last week by five minutes. Definitely thanks to ideal weather. It was windy at the top, few visitors.
