On Osolnik it's always great,
especially when weather is pleasant
and when we see flowers by the path,
we quickly forget the wet summer. nasmeh

On Hom it pleasantly smelled of cyclamens

Here go left along the ridge to avoid the new skid trail for timber.

Beech is thriving well this year too, as the rain pours.

A lot of work still awaits the forest workers.

I haven't seen such a beautiful bouquet for a long time.

It really has the right name - krvomočnica.

The pear tree is already coloring autumnal.

Yesterday afternoon to Osolnik, start in Trnovec, circular path. nasmeh

The path runs along the stream and in some parts is even impassable due to falling rocks and landslides.

Today 4.1. morning by almost full moon to Osolnik. Past village Dol first to Osolnik, return via Hom and back to Sora. Path icy, microspikes and poles will be useful.

This afternoon did a long-planned trip to Osolnik from Sora. First time on this path and must say the variety impressed me, a bit this way and that, bit through pine grove, then spruce forest, under summit through birch copse, really pleasant path. Surprised I didn't choose it before. Next time ascent over hill Hom, which today invited with nice soft path among pines. Summit view for the soul, though Grintovci shyly hid, didn't hinder beauty of view to Škofja Loka and surroundings bathed in setting sun rays. Choose this path, you'll return feeling casually done something good for yourself! Just 1 hour 20 min to top.

Today 7.3. after sunrise to Osolnik. Mostly no snow, just patches here and there a bit before summit on shady side.

Last, sixth photo neither mine nor about current conditions. Probably taken back then, about 35 years ago, with excellent ORWO film. For regular Osolnik visitors who remember lightning struck church in meantime and bell tower burned completely. Shingles on tower replaced by copper roofing. Over a year ago concrete pavement swapped for brick. Trees have grown too. Panta rhei - everything flows.

Rožnikov Stanko told me that the tower burned down on 20.4.1980

Even today 28.3. it was a nice spring morning on Osolnik.

Last time I wrongly wrote that the church was covered with shingles. It was covered with slate slabs, I'm attaching a photo too. Now when there's still no undergrowth you'll surely see some more around the church.

Today to Osolnik and towards Govejek. Due to yesterday's heavy rain a bit more caution on the path, because everything slips. Few visits to Govejek, at least that's what the hut keeper says. Even wandering the lower hills can be a real experience for the soul and heart nasmeh

Fran Saleški Finžgar wrote the hunting vignette Na petelina right in the period when he performed his priestly profession in Sora. He got inspiration in Polhograjsko hribovje (like Ivan Tavčar in "Ljubezen nam je vsem v pogubo"), because there were still many wild capercaillies here then and they were not an endangered species.

Now it's different. The tracks on the photos are not from here, but they are fresh.

But could it be different? Could the wild capercaillie return to Polhograjsko hribovje again? Yes. Where to start and how? Everyone first with themselves, with small steps and that healthy peasant common sense. A big step will also be made when nature conservation organizations, now I mean LD Medvode, also live their mission in practice and do not trample the basic principles of nature preservation in the Natura 2000 area in the most sensitive part of the year.

Even before the day was in colors the muffled singing of owls invited me to a time that ended even before our great-grandfathers lived. Also the arrow that wild geese drew high in the air pointed in that direction.

Otiv early takes the path under his feet,
to outpace the sun before it rises,

Starting point Sora. Today nice afternoon hike via Hom to Osovnik. At the top a bit windy and nice views. A bit below the Osovnik summit the path is a bit icy and requires a bit more caution (tomorrow probably different). Nice path, suitable for all hikers. Best regards.
