I bought inook VXm snowshoes yesterday, tomorrow I'm going to test them for the first time on Veliki Javornik(Ženiklovec). Tomorrow it will warm up a bit above zero at 1500m, probably no problem with sinking into the snow? We'll see how it goes.

I'm also warming up for buying snowshoes. Last year I borrowed TSL 227 in Iglusport. Satisfied with them. This year they don't have them in assortment, their purchasing salesman recommended 226 RANDO to me, which should be almost half kilo lighter than tested. 62 cm long. Now on sale. Don't need for high mountains, but more mid-mountains and plateaus like Pokljuka. What are your experiences?

Almost four years old post that still holds true. For me it's important that they are as light as possible (like boots) because long walking with them is very demanding. From Krma to Kredarica I'd only manage Redbull or similar ones but there aren't many. That's why most people use them only for shorter distances and enjoyment in deep snow. My INOOK snowshoes are sadly collecting dust, you've encouraged me to take them for a walk in soft fresh snow at the first real opportunity.

To Kredarica with snowshoes the problem isn't tour length but steepness. There are so many beautiful paths for snowshoeing that it'd be silly to force that slope. If you pick a suitable snowshoe tour the walking is pure pleasure.

E.g. Komna - Bogatinsko sedlo - Lanževica This one is still baroque, even before the classic..

For basic use the best are Inoc snowshoes which Hofer offers every year in promotion for about 50 eur, just need to watch when the promo is because they sell out fast. Otherwise TSL snowshoes are also sold by Decathlon and much cheaper than in Iglu sport but true they sell out fast too. They are always in stock at Decathlon in Vileš in Italy if someone's path takes them towards Ikea.

What do you mean by basic use? When buying snowshoes you need to pay attention to the quality binding system. That it's reliable since you stress it all the time while walking. It's better to buy quality ones and have them for a long time.

Very important also if they are adapted for downhill on steep terrain. If they are then you have the right ones.
