I'm choosing snowshoes for hiking e.g. Debela peč, Mrežice, Pokljuka, Velika planina, Ratitovec, Uršja gora, Pohorje, Fužinske gore... In short, plateaus, mid-mountain and less demanding ascents to high mountains. In Iglu I noticed TSL 226 Rando http://www.iglusport.si/krplji-226-rando/2, in Kibuba quite affordable Inook Vxm http://www.kibuba.com/?cID=153&pID=6852. I'll be grateful for suggestions.

Go for the Rando snowshoes right away, full price for them is 129 eur. Rando has steel tips below and TSL is also a proven company. If Grivel still made snowshoes, I'd choose only them.

These are solid snowshoes for what is needed for snowshoeing in the mountains. Better ones are all over 200 and more euros .

Yes. I browsed the offer a bit. Some are really outrageously expensive. Probably suitable also for walking on plateaus, where there are fewer steep sections, slopes milder?

As soon as there is some aluminum in between or a rail for extending snowshoes, the price is higher. Otherwise, TSL will be a perfectly fine choice; it will sink in dry snow at most to the start of the knees.

I have Inook snowshoes and I'm very satisfied with them. They're easy to put on and take off, and mounting on the backpack is easy with a bit of imagination.

Rando snowshoes already at home. Now just need to try them. In BTC sold out - if someone else plans to buy.

Today afternoon first time in life on snowshoes! And around village, as someone suggested, bit up and bit down. Enthused! Next time take poles too, which stayed in apartment this time. Full enjoyment!

Which snowshoes in the current Iglu offer do you recommend?

@smetar .. definitely 438 Up/Down ... http://www.iglusport.si/krplji-438-up-down-grip There is only one reason. Once you try on the terrain what it means for heels on descent to be able to sink below snowshoes level, you no longer regret even a cent. Snowshoes without this system on descent are like skis with pulled handbrake . Simply you have no proper feel. I have almost 10 years older TSL model with similar principle and can only praise them.

@bagi: thanks for the advice but I have foot size 46.5 or 47 (depending on shoe model) and in stock only in Lj and Mb, to try if too small...

Usually it's like that, if you go to your nearest iglusport and ask to try them, they order them to that store

With snowshoes you can solve the problem of deep snow cover (mandatory with the use of poles), but a problem arises if the snow is dry like flour and we have a steep path ahead of us, or in strong thaw, then we get "horseshoes" and in such walking legs-ankles suffer. The snowshoes that I use, TSL 438, are adjustable in the heel part, which greatly eases walking in steep terrain (up-down). Maybe the sheet metal on the bottom could be stronger (sometimes I walk over small icy parts too). And if some tooth bends, I straighten it. They are put on or taken off quickly. I would buy the same ones again if needed. Regards. snowshoes.

I pondered a bit over what's written and the praise for these TSL 438 snowshoes, but I bought TSL 226, what now?

I'll try to get TSL 438, thanks for the tips @Ločanka, today I tried TSL 325 on flat and uphill super, downhill a bit "harder" (also affected that I'm not pro with snowshoes ). If they suit you and help significantly in snow walking then they have fulfilled their purpose

@Ločanka ... your snowshoes are suitable for same ascents as TSL 438, difference only on descent. A bit for comparison ... from Dovška Baba or e.g. from Blegoš with yours on direct descent and slightly compact snow sense of security very poor, with those where heel sinks in snow no problem at all. On small slopes no essential difference between both types of snowshoes. No snowshoes of course for everywhere and every snow, those experiences you get only with mileage
