Srednji vrh (1853 m)

Today I went from Mač along the Mačenska path to Hudičev boršt, where they're building a new shelter, they demolished the old one recently. Continued to the saddle between Cjanovca and Javorov vrh, from where I climbed the aforementioned Cjanovca and later Srednji vrh. Descended to Dolga njiva and on to the valley. Path is entirely dry, slightly muddy in a few spots.

please for info: how much time did you spend on the path or how much would an average hiker spend and whether you return to the starting point; lp

An average hiker would need just under 4 hours for the ascent on the path I took. If you do a circular tour you end up exactly at the start.

Last time on Dolga Njiva I saw how much scree they cleared. I remember half a year ago it wasn't like that yet. Now it's really ugly there :/

From Kokra past Čemšenik hut, over Javorov Vrh to Sr. Vrh. In the last part of the path some frozen snow. Windy on top and great views all around.

On a beautiful day started at the stream, conquered Kališče and continued to Bašeljski Vrh. Then on to M. Grintovec and to Sr. Vrh. Descent to Fabolova Koča on Dolge Njive, then along the path coming from Hudičkov Gozd back to Kališče. Still plenty of snow, but frozen and holds until 12. super tour zavijanje z očmi

Nice weather finally convinced me it would be a shame to go to work jezik

..., but of course can't just lie around, so I headed to Zaplata and a bit around. At 8.00 I was the only one at Mačensko parking and it stayed that way through Hudičev boršt to Zaplata, Srednji vrh, Mali Grintovec... all the way to Kališče, where I finally spotted the first people. Conditions ok, just caution needed in places - dry leaves, hard snow, covered brushwood... nasmeh

Srednji Vrh really was in the middle, before that Hudičev Boršt, steeply to Cjanovca, Srednji Vrh, Mali Grintavec, Mačensko Sedlo, Kališče and then to start - Mače.
Weather fantastic and we managed a tour planned for some time, as last attempt bad weather and we only got to Srednji Vrh, since from these peaks wonderful views to Grintovci. On the ridge path still quite some snow, but except deep sinking no problems.

Today I chose the highest peak of Zaplata - Srednji Vrh as final goal. Started from Potoče at parking by the elderly home. At 8:30 in the morning I barely got a free spot. Path to Sv. Jakob and further to foot of Javorjev Vrh mostly snow-free. Path frozen but not slippery. Below Javorov Vrh I head towards Zaplata, past the spring to the ridge path. At the foot of Javorjev Vrh winter starts. Soon snow over 20cm. On ridge there are cornices where snow over knees. Luckily there was a track, otherwise I'd turn back. Alone at Cjanovca. To Srednji Vrh arrived together with two Šenčur alpinists who came from Mač. Met already around Triglav - nice guys. Such are missing in our mountains. Returned same way. In the afternoon path from Jakob downward already quite muddy. Hikers still going up.

Already on the road to Preddvor I stopped and photographed my target.

This time St. Jacob with the church was clearly visible from the forest.

Zaplata is nicely visible from the viewpoint.

Three signposts direct us left. This is already the second in sequence. The fourth directs us upward to Cjanovca.

In winter, the path to Javorjev vrh looks like this - along the ridge; we can also go right below it.

I soon had Javorov vrh only behind me among the trees.

From the last signpost, laborious postholing for more than one hour to Cjanovca. In between, nice views towards Kočni.

The summit of Cjanovca has no stamp or logbook, but has a bench - dry today.

From Cjanovca, Srednji vrh is visible and Mali Grintavec in the background. Srednji vrh is only fifteen minutes from Cjanovca. In these conditions, I took longer of course.

This is the summit of Srednji vrh. It has all three - bench, stamp and logbook, and not least brave lads who fear neither cold nor snow. Bravo!

Today I headed from Mač towards Cjanovca, then to Srednji vrh and back to the valley. Since I went for a faster tour, I took just a waist pouch, with a chocolate bar and a liter of liquid inside, and at Hudičev boršt I saw the drink was a bit warm so I put it in the water trough (those who were there know) to cool nicely while I go to the top, but damn when I came back my bottle with drink was gone. Really nice thanks to whoever took it and hope he sleeps a bit worse when he reads this. Don't care about the bottle it was old anyway and leaking, and I got liquid since water almost always flows there, but see that EVEN ABOVE 1000 M NOTHING IS SAFE ANYMORE, otherwise super tour, and nice greeting to the one who can't afford a plastic bottle from the store. velik nasmeh

Start from Mač past Dolga njiva alpine pasture to the top of Srednji vrh. Then to Cjanovca and Javorov vrh. Back past Hudičev boršt. Weather changeable... windy on top. No snow except a few patches.

Through my home window I see Kamniško Savinjske Alpe from Tolsti vrh to Velika planina. Today I chose Srednji vrh. From the parking in Mače I went along Mačenska path to Hudičev boršt. The path compared to the one to Kališče is much better, no mud, nicely trodden and solitary. At the junction by the spring at the edge of boršt I turned left and after a few minutes right in the forest on steep path towards Dolga njiva. Snow started in the gully at the bottom of Dolga njiva at about 1500 m. From the hut onwards snow quickly gets substantial, under the summit almost a meter. Before the last snow someone snowshoed to the top, but veered into bushes several times where I sank over my knees. On top warm, no wind and nice views. Continuing along the ridge westwards also sank deeply, so at the junction on Dolga njiva I turned back to the valley.
Nice tour with two faces: up to 1500 m fully springlike, warm, humid, above that wintery with lots of snow, but still warm.

Circular route (yesterday 11.1): Mače-Hudičev Boršt-Srednji vrh-Mali Grintavec-Bašeljski vrh-Kališče-Mače. Snow patches start at Dolga Njiva. Last 150 height meters below summit more snow (around half meter), occasional sinking. Path from Srednji vrh towards Mali Grintavec completely snow-covered, untrodden (only one track before me). Crampons necessary in places. From Mali Grintavec towards Mačensko sedlo about halfway the path is mostly dry. Some snow again along ridge to Bašeljski vrh, caution needed.

From parking in Mače today I went straight along Mačenska path towards Hudičev boršt. Between 850 m and 1050 m quite a few fallen trees, need to jump over, duck or bypass. Otherwise path dry, no snow. Firm snow starts at bottom of Dolga njiva. Towards Srednji vrh continued in gully between it and Cjanovca. Snow just right crusty, not too hard, no sinking. Weather ideal - contrary to forecast - quite hot, light wind and incredible views. On top of Srednji vrh took a short break, then continued towards Mali Grintavec. On this section sank in places, on descent to Dolga njiva and ascent to Mali Grintavec again just right crusty. Continuation - descent to Mačensko sedlo and over Bašeljski vrh to Kališče was quite strenuous due to heavy south snow. Overall excellent tour.

The southern slope will soon be snow-free.

Mrki, we almost met! I went to Kališče to Kozjek though. A few years ago I did this route you did today, across Dolga njiva pasture to Cjanovca and on. Didn't know exactly where the path goes next so went straight from the pasture, should have gone uphill and then bushwhacked through scrub up to Cjanovca in deep snow for quite a while. There was such a nice clearing to the pastures. L.P.

Yesterday's goal, Hudičev boršt, exceeded by visiting Srednji vrh and Cjanovca. Entire path (Mače - lower cable car station - Hudičev boršt - Dolge njive - Srednji vrh - Cjanovca) easily passable. Just need to bypass a couple small firs fallen on the trail. Snow patches just for decoration. Lots of blooming gentians in upper part.

The shrine is acquiring a nice appearance

Yesterday in virgin white from Mač directly to Mačensko sedlo (bit of gymnastics in bushes), to Mali Grintavec, on to Srednji vrh, to Dolge njive and back to valley. Wonderful!

Today to Srednji vrh past Hudičev boršt; from the top over Mali Grintavec, Bašeljski vrh and Kališče back to Mače. Nice day, nice views, a bit windy, solitary.
