ascent Preddvor - St. Jakob - Potoška gora - Javorov vrh - Srednji vrh
descent/return same, but bypassing P.gora and J.vrh
does it go with some normal, not too fast walking under 4 hours ascent?
any unpleasantness on the path?... since noted that paths are marked, I won't miss anything, right? probably some snow (Cjanovca info from Monday)

I think 4 hours is roughly the time according to the marks, with normal walking. Probably no special features on the path, except some little snow towards the top.

Today to Srednji vrh from Mače over Kozjek. Since I forgot gaiters at home, I took snowshoes with me, which weren't really helpful. Snow is little; due to inversion it's wet. Track is made both from Mače, as well as from Javorov vrh and over Cjanovca. On top we were three today, much more traffic on Kališče. Path from Dolga njiva on to Mali grintovec not trodden but snow blown so shouldn't be problems. No pics because camera stayed home. Lp Miro

If I compare my New Year's Eve ascent in the middle of the night to Kališče and today's to Srednji vrh ... well, even up to 30 degrees difference. 
Today from Mače over pathless Zaplata to Cjanovca (from Javorov vrh not yet trodden) and Srednji vrh. Descent to Dolga njiva and over Kozjek to valley. Temperature almost summer.

Conditions on path Mače-Dolga njiva-Srednji vrh are as follows. To branch towards Hudičev boršt goes without issues. Path solidly trodden. From branch onwards to Dolga njiva tough conditions start. Today sinking regularly to knees. Snow very heavy and walking very tiring. At Dolga njiva can rest some 50m as windblown. Then brutal walking conditions start. Regular sinking over knees. Situation improves only few height meters right under summit, when snow held my weight. Otherwise nice sunny and too warm weather. And thanks to my predecessor who recently made track to top. Seems he had no big issues with sinking. Lp

Yesterday from Mače over Zaplata to Cjanovco and Srednji vrh. Descent over Dolga njiva. Quite windy, but nothing special. Wind and cold made interesting snow conditions (sometimes crust that gives under human weight). On Zaplata can bypass snow patches completely.

Just one week after Volk I took a similar path, but conditions were completely different. Started in Nova vas at the shooting range, past the climbing crag to the stream spring. On the other side of the stream on the north side of Jakob I spot a new forest road, soon Jakob will be accessible by road from this side too. Before the gorge turn uphill on the hunting trail. Every time I notice this path is more trodden, obviously more people walk it. Not long ago it got lost several times, now it's always clearly visible. At two large anthills reach the path under Javorov vrh. A bit downhill, then steeply to Cjanovci. Almost no snow, but wind pulled quite coldly. Short rest at Cjanovci then to Srednji vrh and toward Mali grintovec. Little snow, but icy and needs caution. Most snow on descent to Mačensko sedlo. Here descended to Suha valley. Path not yet trodden, quite some snow, recommend gaiters. Incredibly hot, at the game feeder rested in short sleeve only. Lower part logging, so already desperate cart track even worse. Finally reach stream and road to parking, then through Mače to start.

Today I had a remedial geography exam. In winter I named the peak in the Lanež ridge near Mali Grintovec Starec, which turned out to be my mistake and some confusion on the forum. This time to Srednji vrh I went from the north side from the Lobnica stream valley, along the way also visited Starec. A nice macadam road leads through the valley, car left at the abandoned house by the path. When crossing the stream the path starts steeply ascending. Rough cart track leads past the hunting hut steeply up, but later the path is a bit nicer. Last part of ascent to Starec steep and dangerous for slipping. No path, but passages between rocks open up in front of me. After short rest descend down and along wire fence walk the ridge connecting Starec with Srednji vrh. Path barely visible occasionally disappears. When steeper on barely visible trail turn sharply left, and at first gully decide for ascent although think not right and should go to second. Ascent without issues, nice rock without sand, helped a bit with hands. At top penalty in form of scree, but somehow push through and slightly left on snow tongue step on marked path two minutes below summit. Descend via Cjanovca, conquer also Javorov vrh and descend its long ridge on unmarked path to Celar and back to car.

Miro, I actually overlooked this, but it definitely deserves attention. Unusual, wild approach, such as are at least my favorites! Late congratulations!
