Today Middle Peak from Mač.
Snow starts quite soon, but up to about 1500 m.a.s.l. there's little of it and no problems with trampling. On Dolga njiva it's mostly blown down to the grass and that's exactly where it was blowing the hardest today (more precisely, like a pig velik nasmeh). At the hut in the shelter I changed socks and put on thick woolen ones, no joke with the cold. zadrega

Real winter conditions start right after Dolga njiva. Suddenly much more snow, but it held the weight nicely. There were tracks of predecessors, someone sank nicely in the previous days nasmeh. Somewhere halfway between Dolga njiva and the summit we put on crampons. All the way to the top the snow was excellent for walking.

Cold all the time, on top around -8°C and the wind was also pulling quite strongly, so no lingering up there. But two ravens weren't bothered, one was quite tame.nasmeh Views of course great.

For the way back from Dolga njiva crampons in the backpack and small spikes on - ideal for gentle descent along the trail through the forest.

Awkward posing on the summit. :) Storžič and Košuta peaks have received nice snow caps.4

To Middle Peak from Kokra valley. Along the nice macadam in Lobnica valley I drive to the end of the road. At the hunting hut I go left to the first sharp bend. Between two gullies I climb steep grass 10m to the ridge. Here I step on a nicely visible path, which ahead sometimes disappears, but I just walk parallel to the gully on the left. When I reach the track I turn left and continue the ascent on the left side of the gully. Here there's no path just straight up. When I reach the transverse path, I turn to the scree and up it. The middle gully is actually the nicest, but since the debris at the end is not to my taste I turn into the left gully. At the beginning there are two harder jumps, later it flattens. When debris stops me at the end I turn right and bushwhack branches to a small clearing. From here you have to go right to the grass. The continuation is clear and soon I'm at the top. From here I went over Zaplata towards Javorov vrh. At 1550 m I turn off the marked path left on a nicely visible path towards the start. I've walked here before but don't remember having problems with following the path. This time it wasn't my day, the path ended in some gully, so I descended a bit my own way and finally along the track back to the hunting hut. I closed the loop in six hours because of scrambling. No GPS.

Fresh track made.

The entire snow-covered forest path from ~1250 m to Dolga njiva has a hard base and small spikes are highly recommended. From Dolga njiva onwards gaiters and good will nasmeh - today the snow didn't hold yet, wallowing all the way to the top. Towards the top a crust of a couple cm started forming, so conditions might change to harder in the next days.

May it continue like this and we'll have a much better winter than last year.mežikanje
