Again a suitable winter time for an MTB tour to Jakob. Up to Toško čelo half-dry asphalt, on the Ravnik plateau on the road slippery from frozen ice, in between some bare patches, to the Vihre-Schwarzmann inn dry, in the forest to Jakob winter(snow-ice), which is well rideable. Back I descended on the road via farms to the northern ridge Trnovec via Pr´Mamovc farm to Žlebe, which proved a good northern variant. There is less slippery ice than in the direction of Toško čelo and speeds can't develop in such (one went to T.Č. like on eggs). To Žlebe it flew with little braking on snowy bends like speedway. Soaked though from head to toe. Recommend, LP!

The tireless viharnik went cycling again, not even bad weather scared him. As it looks, he rode all the curves, on roads even rang someone's bell. No worry about running over a rabbit, probably all hid in burrows. Warm regards and happy cycling ahead!

Really heartfelt, thanks Otiv! If I'd hit a bear, it'd really be the devil .

They say: Everything will be, only we won't be... If it is God's will, snow for sure, we'll still enjoy plenty this winter .

Janc, that's not for St. Jakob, that's for the bushes! . I have two buddies fooling around with that too. But it flips quickly if you overdo it in corners . LP!

I know well that it's not. Just warning what all you can encounter on nearby hills. LP

You are tireless, no doubt . Nice tours, keep it up. Definitely need to check out those parts sometime. Considering they're fairly close to me, I'm almost a bit ashamed I haven't been there yet. Neither on foot nor by bike. Lp

With still dry weather around Ljubljana I did a classic, standard tour to Jakob. Ascent via Preska to Mamovec to Tehovec ridge, then around Jakob via Brezovica to summit, descent via Toško čelo. Up top blowing about 30km/h from SW cooler wind, clear skies only a bit hazy before Mamovec - green beeches and few drops of rain from Medno on, Gorenjska still pretty cloudy . Jakob MTB chrono data: total 30.6km, riding time 1h44min, avg speed 17.2km/h.

Today I rode to Jakob again. I went up via Medno and Goričan to the Studenčice valley, there left across the weekend houses to the ridge of the Mamovec farm, from there by road around via Brezovica to Jakob. I returned home via the local Toško čelo. In the morning there was still fog in the valley and only 14°C, higher up it warmed up quickly with the sun. There are still some puddles on the Ravnik plateau at Toško čelo, probably it rained quite a bit, well, at least nature breathed. On Monday I start to Pitztal with a few days' stop in the valley, then over St. Moritz and Milan to Genoa for Sri Krishna pujo .

Due to the afternoon house viewing, I headed out this morning for the always nice MTB tour to Jakob. I started via Toško čelo, Katarina, with descent over Mamovec farm, via Medno home to the Lj. basin. The path is without special features, only down at the weekends before Studenčice at the first right houses on gravel across the road a big ditch for stormwater drain has been made, where you need to jump it on approach, lift the front wheel and brake standing with weight on pedals, which you later transfer to the front wheel when it is already over the ditch.

In the afternoon I stepped on the pedals again a bit and used the dry weather slot. Initially I planned ascent over Zavrh to Šmarna gora, later I rather sped via Preska, Studenčice, Trnovec, Brezovice right under Jakob, then fast descent over Toško čelo home. On the ascent I met no one except workers, on the return quite a few afternoon MTB cyclists. On the ridge I refueled with two ripe pears, which went down well. Even the always beautiful Jakob lost a bit of shine on the cloudy day. The tour was 30 km long, riding time 1h43min, avg. speed 17.5 km/h. From the Jakob ridge at 750 m to Toško čelo I took 13 min, to home another 10 min , sometimes it flew at 65 km/h, from Toško I have a record of 77.5 km/h . Well, now in Ljubljana it's already raining .

After yesterday's late work finish, today I could only manage the bike . I rode through the autumn colors of the landscape over Toško čelo to Jakob. Up there were lots of young families with kids catching the autumn sun without fog. Later, when I rode down via Žlebi and Medno home, the fog had mostly cleared, still it was cooler down there than up high. Nice little tour as always!

On Thursday at Žibert inn under TK gora I attended an excellent show of beautiful New Zealand with slides by Miš Jenčič. Well, today nothing else but visiting Jakob with MTB. Up via Toško čelo in a quite cold forenoon. Very few hikers, only a handful of cyclists. Up top snow started falling from the sky, so I quickly returned to the valley. Since the road authority has no money budgeted for road renewal, it shows in the quite potholed gravel road over the Ravnik plateau. Especially be careful on two big impact craters on the road near the memorial flowers and candle. I rode through one, dodged the next one, as it can catapult you at higher speeds. Lp
