For hot summer days this trail is just right (access through Tržič to Lom valley) from the hut under Storžič (1123 m) through Žrelo (nicely equipped cables) along the northern ridge of Storžič (elevation gain 1000 m). After exiting Žrelo, continue on the ridge path (over Psica) left to the summit. The time of a few hours to the top can be significantly shortened due to the pleasant coolness in Žrelo. Return is suitable along the northwest ridge (path to Javornik) over Škarjeve peči to the starting point or hut under Storžič. If we start early, it is a nice tour also for half a day. When the ground is wet, rocks almost on the entire path are dangerously slippery for those unaccustomed to such paths due to soil deposit. On weekends Storžič is very crowded, better some other day. Specialty: first time at such altitude right on the top of Storžič (2132 m) observed a hoverfly in its characteristic hovering. Essential changes are really happening in the environment!

The road to the hut under Storžič was always in very poor condition. Have they fixed it???

The road to the hut under Storžič is very nice, I think renovated. I was on Wednesday, 15.8.2007 on the top of Storžič through Žrelo, nice path, nicely arranged safety features, return over Škarjeve peči. Very nice tour really for half a day, despite the rocks being slippery early in the morning. Storžič is indeed suitable for some other day, not weekend or holiday. Nice, really nice!!!

Can one get over Škarjeve peči to the Jezersko side? Over Škarjev rob one gets back towards Storžič.

If I disregard that it rained on me three times, I had a very nice tour in the company of animals. The path through Žrelo was nicely cleaned so rocks without sand. The summit offered some views and cold wind. Return I did first time over Škarjev rob, which strongly disappointed me. It drags like guts.

Today there was quite some traffic through Žrelo. Unfortunately I ran into a pair who already at the first cable realized it was too hard; after my path description and difficulty explanation I don't know what they decided. The path is without peculiarities. The same goes for the descent over Škarjev rob.

Mrki, when were you here today through? http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3284724927500.2117245.1548933211&type=1 This is mine, I went for the record and got it, 1 hour and 20 min through Žrelo to the top. In Žrelo nobody except on the top met one couple then overtook another cca 8-10, not sure exactly. Back also over Škarjev rob, down at Dom pod Storžičem in the car at 12.50. Did we meet somewhere? (Blue Salomon shirt, white helmet, that was me, on the way down had white Nike shirt if I passed by somewhere?)

From the hut under Storžič I left at 8h, on top at 9h 50 min. Didn't race but still overtook fifteen hikers in Žrelo. At beer in the hut at 12h. Probably didn't meet.

Yeah, for such a time, probably some beer had already been drunk before...

Time records are broken in the gym, in the mountains the reached summits are counted.

Branee, I have even better times, but I don't mention them here, time is personal, more important is enjoying nature.

Madonna, M.K.! Yeah, it can be done faster, I don't claim otherwise . I'm writing to you in the FB group, let's go somewhere into the gorge to enjoy, Storžič is just to stretch the legs that good hour on the go, we need some real one

On Sunday there was a lot of visitors on Storžič, probably due to the event at the hut below Storžič. The path through Žrelo is well routed and secured with cables. On the ridge quite strong wind blew all the way to the top. Return via the path over Škarjev rob, secured with cable at start and gravelly later but very pleasant.

Primož, kudos for this last photo. If I'm not mistaken, it's exactly on this photo the only somewhat awkward passage in Žrelo, where I think just one peg would make it much easier. Grips and footholds are there, but for amateurs they look quite small ... Otherwise the path is nothing special and I recommend it to all. P.s. oops, see you're still uploading pics, and the mentioned one isn't the last. I meant the fourth pic ...

Beautiful path really, me too beginner on such terrain and it didn't seem hard at all. I want to go to Mojstrovka via Hanzova. How to compare that? Maybe add that I go on such tours alone, as friend has vertigo problems

Hanzova path is somewhat harder, somewhat more exposed, but better secured than Storžič, towards top some scrambling, similar to Storžič. Hanzova path to Mala Mojstrovka is among the best secured and safe paths in our mountains. Biggest danger maybe falling rocks at entry. Overall nothing too hard.
