hello, can someone tell me if the path through Žrelo to Storžič is technically more demanding than the path from Vršič-Jalovec direction via Goličica. Thanks for the answer

All paths to Jalovec are supposed to be harder.

porkafliks, now I've had enough of you, don't come with these primitive comments about time, how fast who gets where. I don't know what kind of mountaineers you are.

@lencka: Hanzova to Mojstrovka is more exposed compared to Žrelo and thus more demanding in that respect. I also went to Hanzova alone. I recommend a helmet and via ferrata set.

Just last week I went with friends to Mojstrovka via Hanzova path. I definitely strongly recommend helmet and via ferrata set. It's one of the really extremely beautiful paths of this kind, which I definitely recommend to everyone who likes paths with lots of cables and pegs. I was thrilled.

Thanks everyone for the answers. Equipment will be there and if the weather is good, I'll go next week when there are a few days off. Good luck!

I did the trip through Žrelo today. The path probably doesn't pose conditioning obstacles to anyone, but it's slightly exposed in a few sections. Almost no need for via ferrata set. But I'd say helmet is mandatory due to the crumbly terrain. For descent we chose the path over Škarjev rob for variety and easier descent, which is quite nasty at the beginning. But don't forget at home Autan or something similar because today at the top there were tons of flying ants besieging from all sides. And safe path...

Hello In summer I was on Mangart via Slovenian, Jalovec over the notch...; interested in the path through Žrelo to Storžič if it's less exposed than the previously mentioned paths? Thanks

The path through Žrelo is nicely secured and only slightly exposed in two sections. It's definitely easier than both you described. Just keep the path under your feet.

@bernc: this question is a bit "funny", everyone knows that the path to Jalovec from no side is a piece of cake, so the path through Žrelo surely won't trouble you..

Yesterday with a friend we headed to Storžič through Žrelo and back via Škarjev rob. Wonderful autumn colors have taken over these parts, but there was complete peace, on the whole path we didn't meet a single hiker, but we met 6 chamois chasing on the northern steep slopes of Storžič. I posted photos of the path on my blog at the link: Storžič - up through Žrelo, down via Škarjev rob

Nice. Congrats on the nice ascent. The gully you descended is called Peto žrelo. Lp.

Macesna and others, maybe you know if it's possible also in dry conditions through Peto žrelo (rocks, scree, jumps)? Last year I went over Škarjev rob for the first time and the path was very boring for me. Thanks for answers. L.P. BRUNO

Possible, but I advise against it. Extremely unpleasant, all collapsed, terribly crumbly, climbing UIAA I and II, maybe more in places, in short, in dry conditions this variant is practically not used, in winter it's quite popular though. Lp.

And who knows if the path through Žrelo to Storžič is already dry?
