Three Peaks

It's about the proud spelling of a foreign geographical name (e.g. Kalifornija and not California, as it is originally) and has little to do with Slovenes living there.
Another example: New York is written originally, but adjectives are formed phonetically: njujorški, njujorška...
Funny claim that orthography shouldn't cross borders.
And German is written with a small letter...

One is to adapt or Slovenize, another is to create monstrosities. It would make sense "Three Peaks" or something similar.
California-Kalifornija makes sense because of pronunciation. By this logic Tre Cime would be Tri Čime in Slovenian.
Where is the logic in changing the Italian word "cime", which literally means peak, spire... into "cine", which means nothing in Slovenian or Italian.
Like naming California Kaliformija because someone can't distinguish m from n?

Interesting, mountains are already artificial architecture.
Cinque torri are probably Five towers or even barrels...

The road to Rifugio Auronzo is meant more for "tourists" than hikers, so they charge a lot. In Misurina you get free parking. Same on the other side, in Moos. Further from Moos, in "End of the valley" it's 8€/day. But in all listed cases you really walk more.

Well there "hikers" have no big choice. For "tourists" it's divine. nasmeh

Interesting Oleg, how terribly the term "three Cimes" suddenly hit you, given this forum is named that and used here for years. I think it's not degradation of Slovenian, rather Italian.

Oleg let it go, no point, soon only ljubljanogorenjskaslovenščina or so. Anyway I see there is no shortage of moderators. But it's always nice there mežikanje

"Ljubljanogorenjskaslovenščino" we got completely free now - and this deducts all parking and tolls to Rifugio Auronzo - with čimas, cinas, cimas, zinas velik nasmeh

I hope these terms get "adopted" in Slovenian orthography soon - regardless of their South Tyrolean, Venetian, Beneško, German, Italian, or hribi.net origin - otherwise communication on this forum will no longer be possible velik nasmehzavijanje z očmi

The answer to this question really is not so complicated. They lie on the border with South Tyrol and the German name Drei Zinnen is also in use.

First time we did this beautiful loop and it seemed quite long to us, which prolonged our admiration of the multitude of unknown peaks we were gazing at for the first time. We didn't make any longer stops, as there really wasn't time for that. We lingered only a bit longer at the top of Sasso di Sesto and with this peak gained quite a few additional views not available on the planned path around the Three Peaks. Among them also the view of the snowy High Tauern, and when you know it adorns this Dolomite world too, everything is even more perfect.

Really wonderful views were yesterday on the north faces of the Three Peaks specifically on the way to Langalm pasture, where they were enriched by golden-yellow larches and thus beautified the perfect image of creation even more. At Col di Mezzo saddle views of distant snowy Zillertal Alps, south to shining lakes Misurina and Antorno.

We arrived in this beautiful Dolomite world via Tarvisio and Tolmezzo the previous day, overnighted at Antorno lake parking with beautiful show of boundless night sky glow, returned through Austria and thus completed a beautiful loop here too.

Maybe just this. All huts on this path were closed, except Auronzo hut at the start or parking.

Nice, especially now when there are no more tourist columns. Otherwise huts there usually are open until first weekend in October, then all close.

Hi, wondering if anyone knows how camping is here as new restrictions this year. Would be happy for recommendations on parking spots where you can sleepover close to starting points. Thanks.
