Tips for a multi-day trip

Big thanks for the nice wishes, which I of course return, and for the tips!
Now all that's left for me (us) is to keep our fingers crossed that as little snow falls in the mountains and consequently they are "ready as soon as possible" for our visits.

Sleep quite solidly in all huts: At Okrešelj, Kamniško Sedlo, at Ledine, in Czech Hut, at Korošica, at Kokrško Sedlo. No panic, everywhere nice.

If you decide for the Bohinj end, then some hut on Vogel, hut on Razor Planina, Komna, hut on planina Viševnik or hut at planina pri Jezeru, Kosijev dom on Vogar - depending on the length of the tour in one piece and walking pace .....nasmeh In the Kamniks there are at least two bivouacs under Grintovec and under Skuta, huts on Kamniško sedlo, Kokrško sedlo, Okrešelj, Ledine, Češka koča, hut in Kamniška Bistrica, Krvavec, Kocbekov dom on Korošica under Ojstrica, and I won't mention Velika Planina.....velik nasmeh

I went roughly in the opposite direction than @gorvhribe's plan. It's a three-day partial traverse of KSA, starting at Jezersko and ending at Olševa.
First day was start at Jezersko, to Jezerska Kočna and Grintovec. Then descent to Kokrško sedlo and sleep in Cojzova hut.
Second day was Kalški greben. It's right opposite the planned route, so return the same way, as the path then goes to Skuta, Turska gora and Brana, followed by descent to Kamniško sedlo and sleep.
Last day started with descent to Okrešelj, then along asphalt through Logarska dolina, from there to panoramic road past the sour water spring and finally past Potočka zijalka to Olševa and down the ridge.
The route, except the last day, is very demanding. With moderate fitness, it fits time-wise without rushing, leaving plenty of time for pleasant lounging in mountain meadows.

Traverse of KSA, first day over Presedljaj to hut on Korošica then to Ojstrica and over screes to Planjava then down to Kamniško sedlo to the cold goat and Gas onwards through Kotliče to Turska gora then down to bivouac under Skuta for sleep... Next day early morning to Skuta, onwards along the ridge over Dolgi hrbet to Mlinarsko sedlo and onwards to Grintovec - back down over notch towards Jezerska Kočna and Kokrška Kočna....and further descent to bivouac under Kočna..sleep or another stroll to Kokrško sedlo...Start and end in Kamniška Bistrica.....Good luck.....mežikanjemežikanje

Here's my suggestion for a very nice three-day tour in the heart of the Julians, which I did last year in two rounds myself:

1st day: Vrata-Sovatna-Stenar-Križ-lunch in Pogačnikov dom-afternoon ascent to Pihavec or sunbathing by the lake.

2nd day: early morning to Razor and maybe Planja-refreshment in Pogačnikov dom-over Bovški Gamsovec to Luknja-over Plemenice or easier mulatiera to hut on Dolič.

3rd day: ascent to Triglav-descent to Kredarica-to quieter Staničeva koča for refreshment-maybe ascent to Begunjski vrh or Zg. Vrbanova špica-over Prag back to Vrata.

With good weather forecast, the trip can be extended to 4 days by stretching the first and second days into three and conquering the peaks around Kriški podi more "leisurely".

Last year it was, yes. If it's still closed this year, then don't go there :-)

I also have a question in this thread.

last year I went on a multi-day trip from Ljubljana to Triglav. specifically along a route that went over Tošč, Gorenje vasi, Blegoš, Črni vrh, Porezen, Črne prsti, to Bohinjska Bistrica, Bohinj and then over Komarča further.

this year I'm tempted by a similar trip, but on a slightly different route, as I'd like to go roughly along the line Ljubljana-Škofja Loka-Železniki-Ratitovec-Jelovica-Bled-Radovna-Mojstrana-Vrata.

on the whole line I'm now missing ideas for two "stages" namely how from Škofja Loka to Železniki avoiding roads and then from Ratitovec over Jelovica to Bled.

if anyone has any advice, thanks in advance.

From Škofja Loka to Železniki you can go along the foothills or ridges east or west along Selška dolina.

Or you can try this (which is actually my project too): http://www.kam.si/slovenske_pespoti/aljazeva_pot_od_doma_do_doma.html

@ZeK
from Šk. Loka to Ratitovec you have a slightly more varied route: Lubnik- Stari vrh- Mladi vrh- Koprivnik- descend to Zali log and ascend to Ratitovec.
Similar: www.pespoti.si/izlet.php?id=13651
Less varied: Šk.L.- Križna gora- Planica- Čepulje- Mohor- Lajše- Dražgoše- Podlonk- Ratitovec.
www.pespoti.si/izlet.php?id=9624
True, both routes avoid Železniki.

In the second sirt variant, from Dražgoše via Kališ you can descend to Železniki and continue through Dašnica settlement to Podlonk and then to Prtovč and Ratitovec.
From Ratitovec to Bled, you can go via: Ratitovec- planina Klom- Ledine- Rovtarica- Vodiška planina- Planina Talež- Ribno or Selo pri Bledu- Bled.

barbarela, for a multi-day tour in the Julijci you can choose this route that my father and I hiked, and he's about the same age as you two...
--we went to sleep at the Italian Zachi hut above the Belopeški lakes and the next morning climbed via Via della Vita to Vevnica, Strug and Dve Ponci, then overnight again at the same hut.
--second day from the hut to Mangart via the Italian via ferrata and then overnight at Mangart hut.
--third day from Mangart hut via Kotovo saddle to Jalovec and down the other side to sleep at the shelter under Špička.
--fourth day from the shelter to Bavški Grintavec, descended to Soča village where transport was waiting...
good luck!

Big thanks for the suggestion mihael007. I'm a bit scared of Jalovec, I'd rather conquer it with someone who's been there before. Anyway, my husband and I have it planned.

Well, in mihael's suggestion Jalovec is actually the smallest problem. This suggestion includes: first day ascent on one of the hardest via ferratas in Julijci, then ridge traverse including quite a bit of unprotected climbing, and at the end descent via ferrata (which is apparently not so hard).
Second day is somewhat easier, again via ferrata but a grade easier.
Third day a quite tricky traverse from Mangart to Jalovec (especially the first part over very dangerous steep grass), the final ascent to Jalovec is actually easier, descent to Špička mostly unproblematic.
Fourth day for dessert a real Trentarian traverse over almost vertical grass where there's almost no path (though on the map there is). Very unpleasant path.
In short, interesting traverse, but definitely only for very experienced, especially with lots of will and fitness. And if I were to do something like that, I'd certainly cross out at least the last day (and maybe think about traversing to Vršič and perhaps over Mojstrovke to Tamar. But that's another story).

Thanks for the warning, jax, which I'll gratefully take into account and cross out mihael007's suggestion. My husband and I love hiking, but on not too dangerous, well-maintained and protected paths and trails.

@mihael007 nice and technically/fitness demanding tours. Hope I can repeat your tours this year or next summer nasmeh

@barbarela, my suggestion:
Day1: Lepena - Krn lakes- V. Bogatin - Vrh Škrli (can continue a bit to Tolminski Kuk and return to junction for pl. Govnjač - continue to Komna (or hut under Bogatin) [overnight]
Day2: Komna - Črno jezero - Seven Lakes (here you can explore surrounding hills or nearby lakes)
Day3: Seven Lakes - towards Komna - Lanževica - pathless - V. Baba - Lepena (alternative descent from Lanževica to Bogatinsko sedlo and then same path as day1 to Lepena.)

Can extend by a day visiting Krn and surroundings nasmeh

Suggested route can be orientationally demanding if bad weather (fog) and you don't know the terrain. Otherwise not too demanding and if you find fitness not your best friend you can return directly to Lepena on day2.

Happy and safe hiking mežikanje
