On Saturday at Tolsta Košuta and Mali Košuta. Road to parking at quarry in pretty bad condition. Path to pasture Zgornja Dolga Njiva torn up by machines - timber haulage. Everywhere restricting us with road closures, in mountains' embrace they dig everywhere and as we used to say "no one minds". All for capital.
At hut Spodnja Dolga Njiva good service and friendly staff.

Hi, does anyone know what condition the road to the parking lot at the quarry is in?

As I wrote above, a month ago it was in bad condition. But if you don't pity your car, it goes.

Today Eastern and Western peak Tolsta Košuta.
7°C under the peak and quite strong wind.
Otherwise clear with nice views. At Dolga Njiva štruklji and coffee with milk 12€ eek

Yesterday we also visited both summits, pasture full of people, on top we even enjoyed solitude. Ascent to summit via border path or far eastern one, which is very damaged at certain spot, so direct through bushes is better, which we also descended by.
Road to start repaired perfectly. jezik

On pasture you can get beef or chicken burger 9€, little potatoes 3€, fried mice 4€, ..., since all full we had dessert in valley, where they say: "Life is not potica, life is štrukelj." nasmeh

Today to Tolsta Košuta.

Planšarija at the Spodnja Dolga njiva pasture.

Views along the entire Košuta ridge were excellent.

Here Tolsta Košuta continues with Gamsovkami and Obliči.

View into the Meli-tu gorge where a protected geological trail runs.

Summit with a box for entries and a stamp.

This is another alpine pasture which is also in Austria.

On Saturday my last, sixth 2000er on Košuta ridge, that was Tolsta Košuta. Path through Dovžan gorge to Pod Krnico parking, 8 km gravel excellently arranged. Just caught blue sky. Past Dolga Njiva hut, path through scrub steepish to both Tolsta Košuta summits. Nice views along Košuta ridge, Austrian side and fog rolled in quick, strong wind. Warm clothes essential. Descended along border from Orlovo sedlo, short ascent to Mala Košuta (1.740 m). View to Pristovšekmu Storžiču, Virnikov Grintovec, Gol vrh, Plešivec.
Cabbage, žganci and strudels at Dolga Njiva excellent. One portion strudels enough for two, coffee of course, all very good.
Mushrooms ending obviously, one guy found nice boletus.
On return walked to Stegovniški waterfall ~15 min. First heard of it, our rožica knows all, thanks... Quite some water, pools, good summer refreshment. Nicely caught last day before rain.

Today a wonderful day for ascent to Tolsta Košuta, road after last rain normally drivable. From pasture to under Mala Košuta torrents left some damage. Very few hikers, pasture lively. nasmeh

To junction still by car, higher +-20cm new snow, down valley sinking to knees sometimes, below summit used crampons. New snow holds well until sun softens it. No wind.

Today from parking under Dolga Njiva to both Tolsta Košuti. Path dry, no need to step on snow anywhere. Road to parking in good condition. Hut still closed.

It would really be a sin not to take advantage of the last summer Sunday. Since obligations didn't allow a full-day hike, I opt for an afternoon visit to Tolsta Košuta. Drive to the parking under Planina Spodnja dolga njiva was quite adrenaline-packed, so many oncoming cars. Road is ok. Already from the junction at Košutnik onwards it was practically almost all parked. Since I'm late, still manage to park at P and not somewhere by the road. To the hut LOADS of people, in front of the hut ALL full. From the hut onwards no one. Wonderful solitary hike. Below the summit it started blowing hard, just snap pics and turn back. From the saddle continue to Mala Košuta and circle back to the pasture. Follows enjoyable walk on both pastures. At parking still three cars, one of them mine.
