Katty you wrote this beautifully and vividly.
We started at the same time, then the ridge to Košutnikov Turn tempted me... Many more nice tours and safe steps to you.

Did you traverse it? It tempted me too, but alone I really don't dare, it's quite demanding according to others velik nasmeh

. The older couple at the top said you went down another way. I asked the hut warden if there's another descent, she said no mrk pogled

...But other ravines looked quite accessible, so maybe next time I'll check if a circular route is possible.

Since originally I didn't plan to cross the ridge and thus had no description, I thought I'd go have a look and turn if not possible. First part of ridge easy, path well visible. Suddenly no continuation, and since I didn't know if passable I descended on nasty steep grass to marked path to Košutnikov Turn. At home I checked LJ description and others and was a bit sorry I didn't continue zavijanje z očmi

. Definitely will repeat it, unfinished things need finishing nasmeh

Yesterday I was at the summit on skis. At summit at 11:30. Upper 100m elevation snow was mushy, below hard (just enough to ski). Sun strong, compensating cold with warmth. Three skiers overtook us but they didn't have proper gear for summit (crampons).

I remember the abundance of flowers on Zgornja Dolga Njiva, but my dear had Tolsta Košuta on his list too, so we went to see. Maybe a week too early, soon there'll be plenty, but the mountain flower carpets aren't there yet. No snow left, except in gullies off the path, where crocuses grow right as it melts, then alpine bells, neighbors are marmots and gentians. All at once. The pasture is still closed, no one in the hut on return, but they're diligent and tidying the area. Path a bit greasy, no wonder with this humidity, and quite steep of course, mists grazing all the time more or less, but nice to breathe air over 2000 again. Last year over 30 above 2000 at this time probably, this year honestly tired of green muddy hills, though beautiful too. Half a year straight is plenty. Košuta practically all dry, snow probably not returning. Nice to meet chamois herd, four moms with tiny kids and two more.

Planina Spodnja Dolga Njiva, today it was really more of a field... It will be nicer later.

There are quite a few new pools in the abundant water.

The mists started playing now you see me, now you don't.

The slopes towards Austria are quite rugged.

Meli Košute, a picturesque path runs inside there.

Grintovci are still quite white on the S side.

Today I was up, after missing turn-off to Košutnikov Turn. Pasture open, two SUVs up there. Came from Tegoška Planina, don't know road, but path to Pungart Planina positively surprised, no spot to slip. Path to Tolsta Košuta no issues, no snakes. Don't recommend ridge crossing from top to Košutnikov Turn, which I did today. Start looks unmarked path, probably animal track. Path vanishes, notice when scramble twice and left almost climbing steep grass rocky slopes, finding passes over steep gullies, shortly unpleasant good when over. Maybe missed path, but no mention on Hribi. Luck, maybe upload more pics.

Today on Tolsta Košuta. Path no issues, wet needs more caution, slip risk. Nice regards

On Monday, the last warm autumn day this year, I headed to Tolsta Košuta, with a stop at Košutnikov Turn to watch the sunset, which is the best from there IMHO.
The path had no issues; on top, in no wind and a fairly warm evening, I really enjoyed the fantastic show of a sea of clouds and mist in the valley and the setting sun above them. Besides some pics, also a video

For holiday a bit longer walk to Tolsta Košuta. From Dolga Njiva pasture to east and then west summit of Tolsta Košuta. Morning quite cold. Frost in sheltered spots. Nice on top, no wind, everything blooming on meadows.

Already after Friday's Cijanerica the decision fell to go to Tolsta Košuta on Sunday. When I saw the Saturday description on TKG there was no more debate. This Košutka is really a true sweetheart and in right conditions it really caresses, hugs and joyfully squeals velik nasmeh

To the top with crampons. Around eleven on the summit it was still just the right time so snow hadn't softened too much and in the forest it eased a bit too. The road dries quickly and will soon be passable higher, currently about a kilometer of crossing dry patches is needed.

Above the alpine pasture the terrain gets a bit steeper.

At the top, the sharp lines of the Košuta peaks appear. Triglav peeks out in the middle.

Today I set out for Košutnikov turn but it was already wrapped in dark clouds at eight o'clock. So from Dolga Njiva I headed west to Tegoška Planina but conditions on Košuta ridge were unchanged. I returned to Zgornja Dolga Njiva where it started clearing a bit. I decided for Tolsta Košuta and didn't go wrong as the sun accompanied me all the way. The upper part of the planina is quite wet, otherwise the path is without special features. There were no particularly good views as peaks were in clouds. Košutnikov turn just appeared from the fog and will wait till next time.
