Yesterday it was time to visit Gorjanci, thanks to the holidays together with my son. Start from Gabrje village and then via Gospodična to the peak. Not much snow, but it's frozen, quite a few icy patches too, so great caution is needed, small crampons recommended. No people anywhere, but two female soldiers were patrolling the top, which I haven't seen before. Interesting. I recommend visiting Trdin, no guarantee for the soldiers...

Path from Gabrje to Gospodična very muddy today, further to Trdinov vrh south-facing snow. Despite bad luck with weather ( unfortunately none, on summit "mini" snow flurry, on the way down some rain too) great outing. P.S.: and praise for excellent mushroom soup and buckwheat dumplings in mountain hut at Gospodična

Lots of people really go to Trdinov vrh. Even two buses in Gabrje and full of personal cars. And it was a nice day too....

Trdinov vrh is a nice hill, was up there today ....but plait in Gabrje is a better monument for pure Styrians

Today on Trdin great weather. Huge number of hikers. Path to Miklavž well trodden already a bit kitschy, so wonderful it was today! Otherwise morning cold (-9) and a bit frozen and windless but sun warmed and warmed and afternoon already quite fairy-tale like, as Trdina always tells us!

Today to Trdinov vrh. I choose the marked path, which we call through Glažev graben locally. The path runs by the stream, which on its steep path forms nice waterfalls and pools. The nicest part of this path is at the confluence of two streams, where a several-meter waterfall falls over a rock step. That held true until recently. Beyond the waterfall there is no more marked path. On its trace now a forest road is built. High felled trees lie everywhere. Beds of both streams are clogged with fallen trees, huge uprooted root balls, rocks and mud. The waterfall is no longer visible, as it is clogged. The bulldozer still stands there so I think devastation is not over yet. The gorge was worth seeing, as in beauty almost comparable to some more popular one, along it ran marked path. Now no more nice gorge, no path.

Since standing in front of an open fridge gets expensive in the long run, I rather jumped to cool off at T.v. Started higher up, from the parking at the end of asphalt. Trail start is hot, "sweating balls", but already in the forest under Gdč. a tolerable cool welcomes me. At the top even refreshing breeze, in the church shade or park it's great to stay. I was nicely surprised, considering how low T.v. is. I drank a liter and a half of water total, never burned half as much for T.v. before. Recommend for morning cooling, whoever has time.

Weather forecast today wasn't promising, Kamnik peaks were in dark clouds already in the morning so we chose Trdinov peak. Early start proved good decision, sunny even in Dolenjska. Windy at the top, otherwise interesting, quite some people too.

Just back from Trdinov peak, up from Gabrje via Gospodična, back past Miklavž, almost caught by dark . Surprisingly no crowds, met only one hiker, trail almost completely dry, weather partly cloudy, slightly windy towards top.

An afternoon walk to the top in fog. Parking under "ski slope" nicely cleared. Nice packed trail all the way from bottom to top, not too soft, not too hard. Snow from half to one meter, depending where you measure. Of course lots already down low too. Gospodična hut open. Towards Vahta nothing plowed, towards Gabrje and peak yes. Surprisingly no SUV "hikers". On road would go easy with chains, suitable of course mainly for sledders, skiers, even saw a cyclist. Fog all the time, only at top towards south some clearance. Tomorrow probably same dismal, but I think it's worth doing some ascent anyway. Who knows in how many years such nice winter again.

Hello, before going on a hike I always like to get info on trail conditions that I plan to hike. This time I chose Trdinov Peak, which I've summited several times on this trail: http://www.hribi.net/izlet/gabrje_trdinov_vrh_/25/735/1325 weather forecast for Trdinov Peak: http://www.hribi.net/vreme_gora/trdinov_vrh/25/735 today: cloudy, bit below 0°C, some light snow tomorrow: mostly clear, no snowing, to -5°C Wednesday: morning still cloudy, afternoon already snow, around 0°C given current trail status (don't know it!) and forecasted weather, what conditions on trail can I expect Wednesday morning from 7am when I'd start hike? Assume trail well trodden, maybe some mud in places? Poles and winter boots with proper sole enough? Gaiters? Microspikes in backpack just in case? Thanks for help and best regards.

Cap or hood (because constantly dripping or snow spraying from trees), good boots, poles, anorak/poncho. If you want to sit somewhere on top, also something for under your ass, because won't find even sq cm dry surface (even under roof in church ruins ice everywhere). Gaiters not necessary, path narrow only in spots. That's all. No crampons needed of course. No mud either. p.s.: (a bit joking) Due to frequent snowbreaks (falling branches) would otherwise recommend helmet, but think you'd look a bit of a weirdo on Gorjanci

Today was on top of Dolenjska. Started from Gabrje via Gospodična to top of St.Gere. Very wet. Starts with snow, some muddy parts in between, water flowing down in streams. In upper part recommend road direction, because snow collapses knee-deep or more. Also recommend gaiters and good waterproof boots if someone plans to go up in this thaw. Up top sunny, on way down caught local shower a bit above Gabrje.
