Given that I'm only a summer visitor to this area, these photos don't let me sleep peacefully tonight. To all who get to enjoy these natural winter beauties, safe steps and more such shots, for us couch potatoes.

Is it possible to get to Viševnik without crampons or skis? So on foot. Thanks

After work now there's enough time for the house mountain. With skis nicely to the top, there were also some snowshoers who turned back earlier. On Sunday it rained to the top, then about 25cm of quite granular snow fell. In the summit area wind has already created cornices in places and on windblown areas it's a bit icy. I'd warn about the ever wider and longer crack under the summit and it might happen that with the forecasted thaw the whole snow mass crashes towards Konjščica. From MDV towards Jezera some has already slid, lots more waiting. Cheers

I admire the courage, given these dangerous conditions and huge cracks that speak of a likely scenario..when it crashes, it will wipe out half the slope...

carniolus, I don't know if given the slope conditions, the visitor deserves admiration. I'd replace the word courage with tempting fate. But, everyone decides for themselves about going to the mountain. Presumably thinks of those who would rescue him if something happens and they'd be equally endangered. No, by their own choice.

I fully agree with @primoza's comment. The ascent route runs much further east from the avalanche entry, which is entirely on the southern and steeper side descending towards Konjščica. Still, caution is needed and no straying from the established path. Attaching photos with drawn ascent route and cracks for better illustration. Good luck.

The avalanche is still waiting, but it has moved several meters and cracked across the slope. It's just a matter of time when it clears everything towards Konjščica. Must stick to the packed path. Cheers

What do you think, is it suitable these days to go to Viševnik on the marked path from Rudno polje (Thursday should be below 0, what's the path like, is there avalanche danger on the packed path?). Asking because after the tour I'd go to biathlon too (Gorenjci like to save on the way). Thanks for reply.

But I'd go on foot without snowshoes.

I was there on Sunday, on foot with board on back. There was about 20cm fresh snow, base mostly supportive, at least in lower part to the ridge. Then strong wind (for ARSO only moderate, obviously), which blew everything away and it was windblown to almost icy base in places, elsewhere quite windloaded snow. There were still some skiers, on the way back met four more hikers following my tracks. Visibility only 2m I think... If you don't mind trampling a bit it's doable, regarding avalanches I think no big panic if you stick to the established path to the top. That it would be fully trampled I doubt very much, although with Viševnik you never know.

Just back from Viševnik, conditions are ok. Somewhere on the path I lost my crampon bag, if anyone finds it please contact me. Most likely it was blown away to hell long ago. Regards
