This week, if weather allows, I'd go up by the ski slope, down to Srenjski preval and Jezerca. Still much snow on this path? Thanks and nice day ahead.

In the morning it cleared only in the Julian Alps, on Košuta still rainy cloud curtains. At Rudno polje two German hikers asked for Triglav, but I strongly advised against the ascent, they were without gloves, a bit non-mountaineering confused, unprepared for the ascent itself. Planika wouldn't be a suitable goal either, too cold with wind. So we headed to a quite suitable goal, plus they forecasted afternoon thunderstorms with cold from the north. Yes, it was a long loop with them, hikers only very occasional. At the top I met a whole group, this time mountaineers from far Colorado, then a couple from Canada, lower quite some youth in tracksuits and sneakers from Austria. Up top it wasn't as cold as forecast, wind blew in longer gust sequence and eased, afternoon somewhat clouding. Nice to see our mountain kingdom again

For the beginning of autumn, contrasts on Viševnik... The hiker from France on the lower picture chose today's Viševnik on his way to Morocco for crossing the Alps. He had shoes... in his backpack, but apparently they are worse than nothing for the mountains... so nothing then... I have to admit, it's a very innovative idea how to spice up the ascent to Viševnik. In the "beginning of autumn" even Viševnik becomes a "Mountain"... I have to add - he was very careful. Otherwise, the path to Viševnik is muddy and only here and there can you clean your shoes a bit in the snow. On the way to the Srenjski pass snow only on the west side of Viševnik. And that snowfield is deeply "pockmarked" and can be crossed without problems. The "cabled" path under MDV dry almost to the end of the cables. Only the last part of the cables was still under snow today - further snowy but now there is a track. Snow soft and sinks deeply. Today some small "slides" were still released, tomorrow probably no more. Further to Veliki Draški on the east side path practically dry, descent on the SW ridge annoying - snow on rocks. Good there's scree lower - every thing comes in handy once. Below Srenjski pass nice snowy "spring" idyll. Above Konjščica all dry but at least not muddy. In short, contrasts...

Sunrise on the top. In the dark I watched stars in the sky, then clouds started to appear, so sunrise wasn't perfect(for photos), still it was nice and worth early rising. Path normally passable, in middle part quite muddy and slippery, snow just traces and some snow lumps

Dear Sir/Madam! Has anyone been these days perhaps from Rudno Polje to Viševnik? I'm interested in the conditions on the path, because on Sunday I have a group of 8, otherwise experienced mountaineers, who would like to conquer it.

On Pokljuka it's winter. In Lipanca about 60cm snow, so on Viševnik possibly even worse especially above Plesišče when entering scree. Late Igor Zlodej always emphasized that mountains are not conquered.
