It all depends on how accustomed the child is: whether at that age they can do 700m elevation without issues and are used to moving on steep and somewhat exposed slopes. For our youngest, Viševnik at 4 was no problem. But one needs to be careful on the summit grassy slope. If exposure and steepness are the issue, then on Pokljuka Debela peč or Brda are more suitable, and also almost two-thousander like Mrežce.

Otherwise we're a lot in the hills. So far the highest peaks are Porezen and Šavnik. For son (6 years) no worry - enough condition, daughter (4 years) has less condition. Both have lots of joy and look forward. Probably we'll go to Mrežce.. Now one week in Bohinj on vacation and we'll try to use nice weather.

@modrooki, in the June Planinski vestnik I saw that Stritarjeva have published this year at Sidarta the book ¨Z otroki v gore¨. It has 240 pages, price 31.90€. I think it's worth browsing.

I was also on Viševnik on Sunday, since due to unpredictable weather I didn't dare go on a longer tour. We can avoid the worst mud if we go via Kačji rob and Srenjski preval. The sun showed up for a whole 20 minutes, on the return it even drizzled.

Is the renovation also on the road to the monument Pri Rupah? I plan to go there tomorrow, but wouldn't want to run into a closure.

Renovation or road closure was after cca. 100 m when you turn from the main asphalt road. How it will be tomorrow, unfortunately we don't know. Wherever you go, enjoy the day!

Today in one word, PERFECTION of weather. Otherwise on Viševnik there was quite a crowd, but when I descended to the other side towards the saddle and then left towards Jezerca peace and quiet. Only two chamois came to greet me. Regards

On Sunday with Jure, as every year around December 22, we tried to climb Viševnik. The weather forecast was "excellent" as it guaranteed ascent without crowds. Snowflakes in the rain started appearing at the top of Zatrnik. At the parking lot before the barracks (with our two cars) it was already all white. On foot we headed towards the ski slope and along it further. In dense snowfall it was quite idyllic. When above the ski slope we ascended directly up the gully towards Plesišče, it was already a bit windy. From the signpost for Blejska koča onwards under 5 cm fresh snow there was still old rotten snow. If you caught the trodden path it was ok, if not it sank nicely. In less than an hour of walking we reached the clearing below Plesišče, where the wind became very strong. After a short glance we decided to continue as long as possible. However Viševnik after about 50 m, at altitude 1814 m (garmin), blew away our plan. With ski goggles maybe it would still go, without them in the spindrift no. Despite the "failure" we were satisfied that we at least tried. Next year again - in memory of a friend. Regards

Today 26.12. around 13h I skied from Viševnik towards Rudno polje, unfortunately I didn't strap my backpack well and as it seems I lost my Petzl crampons somewhere on the descent. I'll be very grateful to the finder.
