Today on a nice sunny walk past Tonkina koča along the old Vršič road to the top of Vršič. Back on the asphalt and paved road. The road is covered with smoothed snow and icy on some parts. With good winter tires it goes fine to the top of the pass.

Yesterday (11.1.) winter fairy tale on Vršič. Convinced everything already walked and tracked long and cross, left snowshoes home carefree. Mistake! Did penance. velik nasmeh

From Koča na Gozdu first bit back on road then on trodden path to Erjavčeva koča. On road to pass and to Vršič top. To Tičarjeva koča track, there three fooling around, ahead fun. First comfy on still faintly visible old track, from Poštarski dom almost to top sinking in brush khm… to rear and more. Old road to Tonkina koča no track, just ski trace left untouched, but didn't help much as "afternooners" met on return used it well. Seemed easier and comfier straight through powder where possible across brush and forest like on skis. Gorgeous day! nasmeh

From Tičarjev dom onwards the old track is still a bit visible...

The snow is dry and trampling it is currently a pleasure... :-)

Towards Bavški Grintavec and its neighbors...

... and towards Mojstrovke. The track to Grebenc was visible, two were ascending it...

I can't decide if they are prettier like this white or golden in autumn...

Snowdrifts... you can see the wind was busy...

On Sunday we had the fourth tour of the VGN section at PD Škofja Loka and as a mountain guard I joined it. We arrived at Tonka's hut and from there went along the old military road to the top of Vršič. All huts except Erjavčeva have already closed their doors for this season. Ajdovska deklica sadly watched us and thought her own thoughts. Then we headed to the underground of Prisojnik. It was extremely interesting. Even more interesting was sliding on scree back to the starting point below. We went across and then steeply down - adrenaline-packed. No mistake was allowed. Then past Tičarev dom to the pass at Vršič and also to see the underground on the other side of the Vršič pass. For viewing these undergrounds you need lights. Then we headed to the long path to the Soča source. It takes more than two hours. The path is nice. Only when we descended to the river gorge it was rocky. We had a nice day full of adventures. We can only thank our guide for the explanation. He is a real encyclopedia of this area historically and generally.
