Because the pickup point for sweet treats that are being baked these days in the otherwise forcibly closed Erjavčeva hut is only at the address Vršiška cesta 90 mežikanje, there was no choice but to strap on touring skis and hit the trail. They do deliver orders, even for free apparently anywhere from Vršič to Postojna, but we didn't have the heart to deprive the caretakers of that little bit of earnings they scrape together with diligent work and ingenuity in these crazy times.

We didn't run into any checks, but even if we had, we weren't worried. Because this was all "by the rules". Here's how it goes: send order by email, arrange pickup, get SMS with info when you can come for personal pickup of the order, before ringing put on a mask, pay on pickup, get receipt… So, everything as it should be and as prescribed for "exceptions".

We really like to support people who don't whine but seek solutions by all means. And we do it multiple times even in gray Ljubljana. But this time we killed two birds with one stone… at the same time we enjoyed the sun after a long time… nasmeh

Oh, and don't forget: the pehtranka is excellent, we'll come for something else soon… mežikanje

Oh, and also this: all day we met practically no one except the caretaker couple. I could easily get used to such "self-isolation"... mežikanjenasmeh

P.s. On the way back three plows came towards us… "just in time" we barely managed to get back to the car waiting a few tens of meters below the Russian Cross… It's only a matter of time when it will be plowed to the top. But the ascent variant on the old road will still remain... nasmeh

Mojstrovke are lonely today,, even touring skiers avoid them//From the hut at the Soča source along the clear and murmuring Limarica the path takes us further under the steep walls of Maklenova peč towards Vršič. The path mostly runs through the forest on the old mulatjera, when reaching the Russian road we continue to the pass itself at Vršič, then past Tičarjev dom all the way to Poštarski dom at Vršič. From P.D. we continue to the summit of Vršič 1737 m and pleasure is at hand.

Before the weather and conditions on Vršič worsened, for powder. And we really found it, virgin and unskied, so skiing down into the valley was pure poetry. On the road it flew anyway, as it was smoother than on a ski resort. We climbed only to Erjavčeva koča, because further on there was annoying wind, and legs were tired too. Lots of snow, great weather, excellent company, friendly people. Of course, today snow conditions are completely different - mainly avalanche-prone.

ARSO weather forecast came true: clearing started from northwest, though it first looked like I'd have to change target. Well, persistence paid off with sun. cool
Road drivable to Koča na Gozdu, further only on foot, bike or skis. They milled the road more in the morning, so easy to drive to KnG. zavijanje z očmi
Still plenty of snow, light wind up top, temp good +5 °C, no crowds; no avalanches heard of. cool
On Majdag's 3rd pic, "souvinirček" sign not visible today (snow-covered). eek
I don't know which bend – somewhere between Koča na Gozdu and Erjavčeva koča1
