'Kosovo peonies'(Paeonia officinalis), photographed this morning at Gazimestan (Kosovo field). According to legend, peonies are said to have sprung from the blood-soaked ground after the Battle of Kosovo (1389). It's a rare plant said to grow only in Kosovo. I haven't seen red peonies in nature here.

I'm glad to have seen the Kosovo peonies in bloom, as the song with the same title reminds me of my youth.

Rhododendron is even more "boastful" in its beauty.

Nacka, it must be nice to see peony in nature. I know it under the botanical name Paeonia peregrinanasmehI got it in a nursery in Croatia.
On the second picture are little flowers from the Karst edge, except the red peony. This one is also from nature, but has tiny serrated leaflets(P.tenuifolia) and is native to Russia, Ukraine...

Apolonija, thanks for correcting the Latin name. I'm not very knowledgeable about Latin plant names, I trusted Google.

Oh, different botanists name the same plant differently and that's why there are usually various synonyms, one name is then more accepted for easier "communication". That's also the case with this beautiful peony.nasmeh

Hello, I took a bit longer break, partly by my choice, partly not. This time I focused on the flora of Mljet. There are more than enough flowers, shrubs, special trees, I tried to identify as many plants as possible using all the literature I have, and also all published photos of the flora from this area, but unknowns still remain or I might have misidentified some species. Some photos are not the best, because plants were harder to reach or wind was annoying, but I included them anyway, because they show plants that might be less common here. I'll be glad for your help where identification is not certain. best regards nasmeh

Denis is right and you worked hard. Based on the "commas" on the leaves it's probably really Allium subhirsutum. The name says it all. Sticky garlic is in our Primorje more like a small shrub or shrubvelik nasmeh. Do you think it's not coastal silene? I think it is. The yellow unknown looks like some chondrilla -Chondrilla (juncea?)The other unknown reminds me of our hairy thistle.
I had lempriko in the garden and it didn't survive our winters. I like terebinth a lot. It belongs to the pistacia genus and is related to sumac and smoketree. Turpentine was obtained from it, hence the name. Definitely viper's bugloss. nasmehnasmeh

Deniss, thanks for the praise and I'm glad you liked my finds.
Apolonija, and to you thanks for all the hints regarding my open questions. I also met terebinth in nature for the first time, I was quite surprised that it's from the pistacia genus, I didn't know where it got such a "suffering" name, well, you revealed that secret to me now. Everything indicates it's really coastal silene, although I was puzzled that on this terrain grows en masse also mallow-leaved silene, which has a darker red flower center, which my one doesn't have. Unfortunately I never photographed the leaves. lp velik nasmehvelik nasmehnasmeh
