In Lower Carniola near Brežice there is a larger habitat of marsh gladiolus. The parcels where this wonderful flower is are for sale. Sale mentions possible access to land, meaning habitat will be destroyed. What can we do for protection? Thanks. LP Sandra

Tamara, everything indicates it's homulica. Either črnikasta or perhaps šesterokotna, which often has red-colored young shoots. These two species came to my mind. lp

Driada, on the question about logarice I turned to the botanical society and forward the answer:

I raised your question at the BDS general assembly. The Botanical Society is ready to help prevent the destruction of the marsh logarica site, but for any activity we need more information. I suggest you contact Mateja Poljanšek, whom I added to cc of this message. It would also make sense to inform Dušan Klenovšek about the problem, also a BDS member who knows those areas well and is very active in nature conservation. His e-mail is: dusan.klenovsek@guest.arnes.si. I hope a solution can be found.

Apolonija and Zlatica, many thanks for the reply, effort for passing on information. I will establish contact with Mr. Klenovšek and also with Mrs. Poljanškova. I saw the boundaries of the parcels for sale drawn on the real estate portal. When I went to check them physically too, I found out that the parcels where marsh gentian grows are right next to them and currently (still) not for sale. Still the area is fairly large and richly overgrown. Besides marsh gentians these parcels also have a rich stand of great summer bellflower. It would really be a shame if an ignorant hand destroys such plant wealth.
