Access to starting point:
From Slovenia, the starting point at the Plöckenhaus guesthouse is reached most quickly through the Karavanke Tunnel, where at Beljak one turns towards Hermagor and continues on the regional road to Kötschach, just before which one turns left towards the Plöckenpass / Passo di Monte Croce pass. Follow the road to the parking lot at the Plöckenhaus hut.

Alternative access from the Italian side. From Trbiž/Tarvisio on the motorway towards Udine. At Carnico, take the motorway exit and first follow the signs to Tolmezzo, then for Austria and the pass Pso di Croce Carnico / Plöckenpass. Drive over the pass to the Austrian side to the parking lot at the Plöckenhaus hut.

Path description:
A hike begins at the parking place opposite the Plöckenhaus guesthouse. A gravel road leads to Grünsee and is marked with number 403. The road sometimes turns into a track. You will reach the lake after 10 minutes of walking (15 minutes to the east shore).
