Rifugio Tolazzi - Monte Coglians (Hohe Warte) (Weg der 26er)

Access to starting point:
From Ljubljana on Gorenjska highway, exit Hrušica, continuation over the border crossing Rateče to Trbiž. There we turn on the highway, which we leave at exit Tolmezzo. We continue to Villa Santina and ahead on good road in the direction of Ovaro, Comeglians, Rigolato to the settlement Forni Avoltri. Here we turn right on a narrower road towards villages Sigilletto, Collinetta and Colina to our starting point mountain hut Tolazzi. For the entire path from Ljubljana to the parking lot, we need 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue left by the mountain hut Tolazzi on the road which leads to cheese cottage Morareet. We don't go there, but signs for path 144 soon point us to the left on other macadam road, from which after three zig-zags we branch off on a forest footpath. There we come to the mountain hut Lamberthengi, which is situated few minutes below the mountain pass Passo Volaia. Above it, we notice a lake Wolayer see with Austrian mountain hut Eduard Pichl Hutte on the opposite bank. By right bank of the lake, we slightly descend on the path 403, which turns in the direction of a high mountain cirque towards the next mountain pass Valentin Torl. We have to overcome 270 altitude meters, that we get to rocky peak just before the mountain pass. We bypass it below on the right side and on the mountain pass, we again join the marked path.
From here ahead we are ascending in zig-zags towards the walls of Hohe Warte. After a good 20 minutes we need to pay attention to the turn-off of the path to the right, which leads in ferrata Weg der 26er and has sign 427-1. Because on a slope there are several beaten paths, in fog we can quickly miss the signs. Also here in the early summer are possible wide snow fields. On the path we come to the entrance in ferrata, which is marked with a sign. We equip ourselves with a helmet, self-belay set and climbing gloves (urgently).
The initial part of the route is practically vertical. Mountain wall has enough steps and holds, rock compact, protective steel cables continuously. There is enough footholds, but they are quite distant to each other, so we need a lot of energy to move forward. Soon we watch serious depth below our boots :) Vertical part passes into crossing of the smooth, wet rock without options to rest. Footholds practically don't exist, or there are very shallow natural cracks in rock. It is easier if we view and remember key points and we cross a rock at once. Place for rest is on the other side, where the path again turns into vertical line. Continuation of the path is still demanding, but key points are behind us. When we come to box with an inscription book path slowly turns into ridge part. With easy climbing and wide views we reach the peak, where we can congratulate ourselves :) Descent: The easiest is to return on direction of normal approach on Hohe Warte, namely on the south path 143. We are descending on a crumbly gravel terrain, where caution is needed because of slipping and triggering stones. Because path runs in zig-zags and is exposed, because majority ascents on Hohe Warte runs here. A helmet here as well belongs on head and not in backpack :) Lower, we come to a crossroad, where we choose the upper path 145. It runs over grassy peak Pic Chiadin to the mountain hut Marinelli with a nice view. We continue in the direction of our path 143 to cheese cottage Morareet and past it to our starting point at the mountain hut Tolazzi.
