Koča pri Savici

Description of hut:
The mountain hut stands on Kopišča at the western end of the glacial cirque Ukanc. PD Ljubljana-Matica first arranged a mountain post at Dom Savica, which it leased from a private owner in 1948. In 1951, they adapted a former Yugoslav border guard post and turned it into a mountain hut. Due to its proximity to the Savica Waterfall, it also became an important tourist stop; thus, it was renovated and equipped modernly in 1970. In 1990, the hut was renovated again and enlarged, gaining new beds. The hut is open from early June to late September. The two dining rooms have 40 seats and a bar counter; there are 40 seats at tables in front of the hut; there are 17 beds in rooms and 17 in the shared dormitory; WC, washroom, running water, electricity; the dining rooms are heated by stoves. View:
From the hut, we see walls and steep forested slopes that enclose the end of the valley from three sides. The forest on the eastern side blocks the view toward Lake Bohinj; on the southern side rise the northern slopes of the Bohinj Mountains toward Vogel; to the west is the steep slope of the Komna Plateau, and on the northern side, steep walls of Komarča rise near the hut.

The hut is open daily from June 16 to September 30, in May and until June 16 also on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and during the week for larger pre-announced groups.
