Description of mountain:
Putrihove klavže are higher up than both klavže in the Belca gorge and easily accessible by forest road either through the Belca gorge past Brusove klavže or from Krekovše. The Slovenian mountain bike trail also runs along the road.
Originally wooden klavže were replaced by stone ones in 1779. They mainly served as a supplement to the Brusove klavže about 2 km downstream. They were abandoned in 1926 when a flood severely damaged the "grablje" in Idrija and timber transport shifted to a network of forest roads. In the early 1990s the klavže were renovated, in 2008 declared a cultural monument of national importance, and since 2012 inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List together with the rest of the mercury heritage in Spanish Almadén and Idrija.
Viewing the klavže is possible at your own risk but mostly not dangerous. One can walk across the barrier over Belca, needing some caution only on the two narrow staircases leading to the chambers by the spillways.
