Niedere Scharte is a saddle at an altitude of 2696 meters located in the High Tauern mountain range. The saddle is located 0.6 km east-northeast of peak Alteck. The nearest mountain hut is Naturfreundehaus Neubau, located 2km north. A little further is Hinternaßfeldalm. 3 km south-southeast of the saddle there is lake Weißsee. 1.9 km east from the saddle there is glacier Mölltaler Gletscher, 3 km east-southeast from the saddle there is also glacier Schapperebenkees. The saddle is located above the valley Wintergasse.
