Bretterwand is 2693 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 0.8 km east-southeast of peak Ochsenbug. The nearest mountain hut is Lahntaler Alm, located 1.6km south. A little further is bivouac Merschenhütte. 5 km west-northwest from the summit there is glacier Säulfrosnitzkees, 6 km west-northwest from the summit there is also glacier Hexenkees.
