Sonnkogel is 1437 meter high peak in the mountain group Totes Gebirge. The peak is located 1.3 km west of peak Sandling and west above the mountain pasture Vordere Sandlingalm. The nearest mountain hut is Lambacher Hütte, located 0.3km east-southeast. bivouac Lupitsch Bachmühle is a bit further away. 7 km east-southeast of the peak there is lake Altausseer See. The peak is located south-southeast of the valley Rettenbachtal.
