On Thursday, 27 August, three hikers set off from Vrata, past bivouac IV "Na Rušju", to Dolkova špica via the western route. On the way, we decided to climb also Dovški Gamsovec. Since there is no path to it, Viper's description left a few months ago helped us a lot. Let me also briefly describe the ascent to Dovški Gamsovec: where the path to Škrlatica starts descending to screes below Dovški Gamsovec, go left along a fairly wide ledge, only in slight ascent towards the foot of Dovški Gamsovec. We need to reach the gully, right at the end of the scree. Cross the gully, then diagonally up to smaller upper scree. From scree, head into scree-filled very steep gully, follow it to the very end. The world then flattens and to the summit just need to find best passages over really small rock hops. Entire route full of scree, sheer walls close by, no room for error! Also in upper gully every hold must be carefully checked, extremely crumbly. But feelings on top exceptional, views too. Continuation to Dolkova špica and descent to Zadnji Dolek simpler, but no less strenuous. Views from top of Dolkova špica fantastic! Whole route from Vrata to Vrata good 18 km long, worth every metre! LP all and safe in mountains!

On Sunday I did a circular tour from Jermanca, where I parked, through Repov Kot to Srebrno Sedlo, then to Najvišji Rob, from there to Lučka Baba. Along the way I climbed Vilice via pathless terrain, nice but solitary peak between Planjava and Lučka Baba. I returned via Kamniško Sedlo. From the saddle I enjoyed the descent on scree. And a bit about the path itself: the path through Repov Kot is very nice, few hikers there. It requires some light climbing, and has, at least for me, one quite awkward passage over almost vertical rocks. This passage is just a few minutes after we go above the tree line. The rest of the path is unremarkable, maybe just that the path from Planjava to Lučka Baba or vice versa is poorly marked in places. Markings are rare and quite faded. For the whole path I took a bit more than seven hours.

Hi Zappa,
Thanks for the really detailed answer, also for the photos. Well, I was on several unnamed peaks, no problem. It's nice here, I like it because it's away from the Triglav bustle. Not many go here, it seems. At the bottom of the cirque that these peaks surround I found even an incomplete skeleton, in my opinion from a sheep..? Best regards and stay safe!

Andraja, thanks for answer. Asking because around this which peak is which spears are breaking. According to description on this site Cesar is what on my pic "peak 4", Garmin confirmed with height too. But on different sites many interpretations which peak is which. Is on pic 1 peak named "peak 1" Činkelman? Anyway thanks for answer, maybe someday opinions unify what is what.

Hello, From Rudno polje, past Vodnik hut to peaks above Konjsko sedlo. At the saddle [there's a] crowd, here pure peace. Until now I always knew which peak I was on, now I have a dilemma...? Was I on Cesar, Činkelman and maybe elsewhere? Can someone please tell me which peaks I was on? From peak no. 1 I made a panoramic picture, on which the other three are [also]. Thanks for your answers, and safe in the mountains.

Hi, kindly asking for info, what's the condition of the road from Jelendol to Mrzli studenec? Thanks and best regards to all!

Hi, a few years ago I did a circular route, just a bit longer along the ridge. Where you want to descend, there are quite steep slopes, big risk of slipping, I wouldn't go there myself. I'm attaching a picture of my route, maybe it's useful. Where I descended from the ridge, there's no longer any serious danger of a bad slip. I suggest you descend all the way to the forest road, which you then follow to the left, there are also signs for Dolga Njiva. Altogether it's just under 15 km. LP and safe steps.

I myself believe that death is not final, that there is something there on the other side... Deep respect for both and sincere condolences to his family.

Hi! You were probably the group that started from Brezovica at 6 am or from those parts, right? I was wondering if we'd meet somewhere, but I was probably ahead of you (at the top of Lučka Baba at 9:45) Hmm..., you've made me doubt a bit which is the real summit of Lučka Baba, but I'm almost convinced that it's the one you call "second summit". It matches the height better, and GPS also says this summit is Lučka Baba. I wish you safe steps further in our beautiful mountains!

Hi! Miha, my opinion on your question: in my opinion the easiest, if one can say so, is Hanz's path to Mojstrovka, but I'd agree that the paths to Vrbanove špice and the traverse of Dolgega hrbta are similar. Neither allows vertigo and both offer boundless pleasures in climbing - traversing. Just one more thing: at one or two exposed spots between Spodnja and Visoka Vrbanova špica there is no cable, so you'll have to manage there without a via ferrata kit. Only pegs and pitons. Safe steps! LP

Hi! I have a question: does snow pose any problem on the ascent to Planjava from Kamniško sedlo? Skymark your picture 4, how dangerous is it there? Thanks for answers and best regards!

Thanks for the kind reply.

Thanks to both Alyas and skali123 for the nice photos and description of this beautiful tour. Since I'm also heading on this path in the next few days, something else interests me if anyone knows: if going along the path from Zelnarice towards Tičarice, is it possible somewhere in between to descend off-path to the "Za Kopico" path, or is the slope too steep for such a thing? Thanks for the answer and safe steps to all! LP

Some pics from Sunday (17.8.) ascent to Kepa from Erjavčev rovt. Weather quite unusual for this summer - mostly sunny and pleasantly warm. LP all!

Hi! I've always had quite a few problems with blisters from new high hiking boots, and also later when they were broken in. This spring I bought high Proalp ones, slightly tested them on Šmarna gora, then seriously on the loop Dolga njiva - Košutnikov turn - Škrbina - descent to lower path - Dolga njiva. All together a bit over 7 hours and not one rub, let alone a blister. For me they're super! Best regards to all!
