As our doors to nature are increasingly closing in these times of coronavirus through ever new measures, I was thinking and decided to try to bring the part of nature that is very rarely presented here among you in the following way. I'm opening a new section, in which those who, in the time when nature comes alive, on the paths of their visits to mountains, rivers, pastures, landscape parks... encounter various insects that charm us in their own way or arouse our curiosity due to certain peculiarities, can find themselves.
Butterflies primarily belong here, as well as other species of insects.
I will gradually, over a certain time period, list photographs of those insects that I collected in the last few years, since previously I primarily dealt only with little flowers.
I invite you to join me with your findings, as the time for this living part of nature is just now arriving this year and I strongly hope that sooner or later we will be given the opportunity and chance for free wandering in nature.
With posting insect photos we will learn with our common strength, we'll also guess a lot about which insect it is, we will surely sometimes err in lay identification, but in any case we can open horizons of knowledge and acquaintance of this piece of nature to each other. If there happens to be some expert on this topic among you, I especially invite him or her to collaborate in this new thread.
Let's start....nasmehmežikanje

Yesterday we went with a good connoisseur of interesting historical monuments and natural beauties in the Vrhnika area, friend Milan, to see the remains of the Roman defensive wall above Vrhnika towards Zaplana, and then continued to the Rupnik Line on Zaplana. The Roman defensive wall with many observation-defense towers was built in the 3rd-4th century AD and was intended to defend the Roman Empire from invasions by eastern peoples.
The Rupnik Line was built before World War II. It comprises a system of fortifications that the Kingdom of Yugoslavia began building on Slovenian territory in anticipation of an Italian attack. This defensive line can be explored by visiting a well-marked thematic trail that vividly shows with information boards how the fortifications were designed, and one can also view their interiors. Interestingly, these military objects were never used for the purposes they were built and have remained largely intact to this day as a good reminder and memory of wartime.

Last week I heard on the radio how the system is supposed to work. As I kinda understood, for now the parking system on Vršič is not linked to the lowering of cars down to KG through barriers, where you're supposed to get the ticket. In that case the question remains open for me, what to do at the top if there's no parking, but you arrive with a parking ticket. It seemed totally illogical to me that no one even asked about it. In the end one of those presenting and praising the system just said, if it jams, they'll have to connect the parking system with the entry at barriers. Hellooo? Only then? Isn't that basic? And that's totally amateurish for my taste. They can't even present the system in all details in the presentation, let alone it working properly.confusedroll

Darxta, very pleasant photo record of the path to the Kotovo saddle area, the mentions of peaks or area where you moved are also very welcome. velik nasmehvelik nasmeh

Tulipan, your flower is most likely three-leaved anemone, judging by the flower (white stamens!!), which is half closed, for 100% identification I'd need to see all
leaves or at least one leaf fully. zmedennasmehnasmeh

geofor, is grobelnik pictured this year, now in April? On the second picture it's not grobelnik, but one of the spurges.

Kamniška Bistrica hasn't been an example of environmental care and nature preservation for quite some time; we have to admit it, although it's personally hard for me to say. True, floods caused extra damage and devastation, but Dom v KB has been renovating for so long you don't know if it'll really revive or not, Pri Jurju was closed all last season, I don't even know who handles those caravans settling around the meadow and all the cars crawling up the footpath over rocks to Krvavški bridge to hide in shade or because they don't want to walk as long as they can drive; worst is the bathing in K. Bistrica that's gotten out of hand and summers it's packed with naked bodies changing and lying on grass.. Is this a natural gem? 2024 drinking water analysis showed it's increasingly contaminated with E.coli bacteria, mayor says the KB spring is state's business and municipality can't do anything? Nothing, until we can't drink from Iverje intake where Bistrica flows too... Municipality must prove to state things gone too far and pressure it because it's responsible for water springs if under its jurisdiction. Citizens' corporation asserts rights, exploits surrounding forests, cuts everything possible, even around protected partisan hospital monument on way to Orglice, no responsibility taken as they're quarreling inside corporation etc. Yeah, this IS chaos for me. In Vrata valley they watched tourists washing feet in Triglavska Bistrica in summer, source of drinking water for locals, but Kamnik mayor doesn't care about our water and threw hands up - yeah easiest, really. And look around Kamniška Bistrica source - used to be neat path around spring left side along flow, small bridge over tough step, wooden bench too, now all rotted and collapsed, barely trace left; why nothing fixed? Not primeval forest to let nature be, but famous tourist spot, now sadly pool for all to soak and do other stuff in spring water! I know whatever you write, at least ten bash your head saying what you talking, no clue. Let be what will. Just wanted to politely say that for those visiting Bistrica 50+ years, impression sadder each time and @jprim's comments above far from pulled outta thin air.

Quote from water report: "Results of E. coli measurements in Kamniška Bistrica before Iverje intake on 20.8.2024 (Table 9) confirm assumption that source of fecal stream contamination is septic wastewater on pastures and in Kamniška Bistrica valley, where human-origin E. coli prevail. E. coli values, coliform bacteria, enterococci, total microorganisms at 36 and 22°C on 20.8.2024 are catastrophic (Table 6)".

Hi, Premik! I'm glad for your reply. It's been a long time since I heard Depeche Mode, I've obviously forgotten their sound a bit, yeah good band they were ..saw only this your video and the music blended well with the video. Of course I have no idea how to make such a video and how demanding the process is. So sincere congrats, the video is really super. In recent years less often on hribi.net because I can't go to the mountains anymore, sometimes I was a regular guest and posted quite a bit... many more successful videos that will reveal and bring closer our beautiful mountain world.nasmehnasmeh

@Premik, nice Velika Planina video. Finally, the musical equipment is super for me too. Who are the performers? They are familiar voices to me, but I can't remember which band it is. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Brane,
1. shovel-leaved butterbur
3. evergreen spurge-laurel or false laurel
4. winter jasmine
16. could be Wulfen's spurge if it's very tall

Branko, No. 6 is not a fruit, but a small olive tree with olives, No. 8 is golden ragwort.
