A while ago I had a program or access to a website where you could see the view from a certain point. You just place the point at the desired location, set the angle and the peaks are drawn, with labels above them. 10x zoom was also possible. Now I can't find it anymore - either it doesn't exist or I've lost the link (access name). If anyone knows about this, I'll be glad for a message - and probably others too. On Google Earth of course you can move the little man, but there are no labels above the peaks. all the best to everyone

When we hike in the Western Julian Alps and Carnic Alps (some also in the Dolomites) we often come across remnants of the front (mulatjeres, caverns, trenches, carved paths...). Often it's not clear to me how this line ran - where the Austrians were and where the Italians. Is there any map or book where it's drawn in. There's quite a bit about the Soča front, but I'm interested in the other part too. Google didn't offer anything smart, or I didn't search right.

I'll try to clarify, if not this year then next year. The path should start somewhere above Turkov rov (probably branch from the usual Za Cmir), but wouldn't run through the gully.

Following the sparse description of Janez Seliškar we went to Vratarska Mlinarica and further to Rušnato and Požgana. Already there where you turn off the path to Cmir and into the gully there are some cut twigs - for marking and confirmation that the direction is right. Someone claims you can also go up some ridge where the real hunting path is supposed to be. I'm interested if anyone knows about it?

Does anyone know where in Martuljek you can park for the waterfalls or higher up. At old Špik everything reserved for hotel guests. Kranjska Gora municipality introduced parking fees almost everywhere. Fine, if they really think it'll make order. Or at least successfully drive away visitors. For waterfalls and rest (Jasenje, Za Ak, under Špik...) seems nothing planned - unless you risk and drive into forest.

I'm interested if there are also ''a bit less smart watches''. I need a reliable pulse meter. Other functions (GPS, steps, calories...) are almost unnecessary for me. The battery would probably last longer without so much 'smartness' hanging on it. Or maybe I'm wrong.

Hope we're thinking of the same path. In the collection: ''Where are those paths'' there's this description and sketch. To Ingota via normal path from Rut. Well-trodden path starts right after Finžgar chapel. After ~200m better path turns left up, we continue ahead along the gully. Path becomes visible again and zigzags up. Once on it, it leads us without major issues first along the rib, then near the gully edge (Martuljek gully). At ~1300m turns left and in long traverse almost flat bypasses at least a third of upper Vršič area. Path over scree and bushes, widely cut. Towards end - after grassy gully - go straight not up. Then path into forest and to clearing (Robičeva planina, wrongly marked elsewhere on maps). To Vršič summit straight up ridge (pathless but passable). Or straight across clearing through forest to usual unmarked comfy path (BP4) from Skočniki. Both take about half hour.

Condition 26.5.2021. Today on descent from Požar to Kot we hit fresh blowdown - quite a few trees and big branches lying. Wind really did a number. Down somehow managed, cuz two of us each searching continuation on own side. How about ascent? That someone soon tackles it with motorbike I almost don't believe. For now - passable for most stubborn and persistent. To Lengarjev rovt by car currently impossible - forest cable on road. Safe travels

Right on top of Vošca a hole formed in snow: diameter about meter, depth 2 meters. Looks like snow melts in this shape. So far no one seems to have fallen in. No thrown snow around it, so not dug by human hand. Friend and I couldn't explain this phenomenon. Anyone have smart explanation (physical)? Wind during snowfall? Warmer ground spot? You can go see it - will last about a week.

Both are right. Let the first one continue. Regarding the purpose, I deliberately posed the question - I'm not quite sure. I think it's a salt pan.

On which trail does such comfort await us? For the full answer: what is this drilled log really intended for?

We two went the opposite way to Ljubitelj gora. From Naborje via 605 to the saddle, down to planina Granuda and by road to the valley. Just some hints on the start, which is a bit tricky. In Naborje almost opposite the church turn left over the bridge and go straight to the wood depot. Park the car aside here somewhere. Go right (straight 606 to Poldašnja špica) then uphill to the bike path. The tunnel starts immediately, on the other side after a few hundred meters at the first junction turn left uphill. On a small tree there is a modest red-white arrow with an unrecognizable number 605. The road after some time becomes a path and trail, which takes us without issues to the Cianalot saddle. Here we join the trail from Dunje. We took 4 hours to the summit, the younger would do it faster. Descent the same way or via planina Granuda (time approx. the same). In this case at the junction below the summit turn down to the planina (604), then forest road to the bike path and through two tunnels to the start (3h or less).

Maybe someone knows how it is this year with the terminal snowfield on Kugy's on Montaž.

I was on Borovje on Sunday. With a normal car you can't even get to the junction (Tromostovje - Brevant). Fastest from the valley (Dovje). The ''path'' from Vrs (pasture, 1200m) to Borovje is mostly snowy but trodden, no problems. Towards Planica from Vrs probably no one has gone since the last snowfall. But from Šija 1 (saddle between Planica and Borovje) to Borovje steeper and harder. To Planica one can sink quite a bit, especially on the upper traverse.
